Christmas season

I was just sort of sitting at my computer daydreaming when I realized it was Dec 1. Time for a new post.
Deanie and I, Heather, Holly and Ellie drove over to Calgary for the Award Ceremony for Tricia on  Nov.22. It was fantastic. Afterwards we went over to Lou and Marie's for a small gathering of family and friends. Tricia was amazing that night, after what must have been an exhausting day she seemed to have enough energy for a very good visit. Much thanks to Lou and Marie for opening their home for the evening. We had very good weather up and back and were very happy we had made the trip.
Now we are busy getting ready for the Christmas season. Ho Ho Ho.

November 2017

I find it hard to sit down at the computer when I have nothing to say, but I must get a post in before the month gets too deep. Tony's birthday is coming up soon and I want to see Louise's greeting in a fresh thread. I went out Halloween night dressed up as Tony and didn't see one vampire, as a matter of fact even the boogey man stayed in hiding. Yeah, though I walked through the valley of death I feared no evil...Tony was with me.

October 2017

I'm standing on the edge of a tub in socking feet and....I know... you're wondering. It's because socks won't mark the tub. So, there I am, when...still wondering? I'm standing on the edge to reach the ceiling joints, I am helping a friend install a new tub in a bathroom reno and am taping drywall. Anyway, I wish I could blame my friend for knocking me but it's my own clumsiness that sends me skiing into the tub. It's amazing how fast gravity brings you down. I'm moving at great speed when the end of the tub causes my feet to halt abruptly. To bad the rest of me didn't stop as well, my knees buckled and the mass of my upper body threw my head forward. It did loosen up my back some, I haven't been able to put my head between my knees since that turbulent flight from Vancouver to Victoria back in '81, that's a different story though. Now I can feel my feet getting wet, I must have broke the tap. No, that's not it, I've gone and gashed my forehead on the faucet, it's blood I'm feeling. Darn it! It's the month of vampires too. I don't like them, they'll smell the blood. I'm wishing I was like my older brother, Tony was so tough, vampires would lift the lid of their coffins to make sure he wasn't around before they came out. Well, I'm off to emergency, I kind of miss the staff there anyway.

Walk a lake

Sept 1, 2017

We are heading to the cabin at Wakaw Lake for the annual Matlock reunion. It's eight of us, the hosts, Shirley and Gary, sister Joan and Dennis from Lumsden, brother Terry and Cathy from Lumsden and Deanie and myself. This is the 27 th year. We usually have it on the August long, but the Ebert's family had a full reunion this year. 167 people at that one. They outnumbered us for the date. We are looking forward to a great weekend.

Have a great one yourselves

August 9 th Sorry

There are times when my creative juices totally dry up. Turns out that's quite a bit more often than not. Yeah! Writer's block, that's what it is. Sure, more like me being a pro at crastinating. Anyways here is an August thread to work on. Oh, I'm working this week, maybe if I'm careless enough I can come up with a new story, or, an old story retold.

HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!

Oh my gosh ! I see I completely missed June. I'm glad and thankful that you didn't. I suppose I should worry about it, I make the absent minded professor look like a genius, of course, I guess that's what he was. I never worry about losing my memory, it wasn't until grade six I remembered that 2 + 2 = 4, it was embarrassing having classmates watch me count it on my fingers. I still forget my keys when I leave the house, you're probably thinking "I do too ", but not every single time, sometimes I forget why I left the house. July 1, Canada Day, 150 years. It's a big deal every where you go, well I guess not every where. I figure at least one place in Scotland it is. Very exciting news that Tricia and Marie are going to be spending a couple of hours in Regina this month. It is always so great to see them. Canada Day won't be the most exciting day of this month and I know my 7 sisters would agree.  I always loved telling people I have 7 great sisters, then hearing " do you have any brothers ?".

May 1 2017

I don't usually get upset with people doing stupid things, I've done a load of them myself, but a bunch of numptys were moving material while a table saw was running. Really bad idea. So, when the first hammer flew past my head I kind of passsionately muttered JESUS CHRIST!!! I felt bad right away, dad would have been disappointed had he heard, and mom, mom would have had a bucket of soap and a scrub pad threatening to wash my mouth out to scare me. Then... all of a sudden... HE was standing there, yeah, it was HIM. I didn't recognise HIM immediately, the blue jeans and t-shirt confused me and definately the steel toed boots threw me off. It wasn't even the wounds in HIS wrists, really, after 50 years in the construction industry, I've been pretty close to duplicating those myself. It was the calm and peace eminating from HIS being, oh yeah, and the halo, the halo kind of gave it away. I didn't know what to say... so I asked, "How's your DAD?" HE said HE'S been golfing ever since Mr. Palmer arrived. I thought God would just control the flight of the ball but Jesus says HE lets it fly where ever. If HE lands in the bushes HE just moves the bushes, HE tried burning the bush the first time but Moses showed up hoping to renegotiate the ten commandments. Then I asked if HE was there to take me, no, HE just wondered why I called. So I asked HIM, "How am I doing, why are we here, what is life all about?" HE smiled and said "That's easy, you're doing....That's when I woke up and saw the 2 x 4 laying beside my head, there was an eyebrow embedded in the end of it, looked familiar, even through the reddish haze of the blood streaming across my eyeball I'm pretty sure it was my DNA. The paramedics arrived, "Hey Jimmy, it's Tony's brother Ed again. Ed how are you feeling?" I looked up through my one good eye, " I'm good......I'm always good".
