March 01/2021

My brother-in-law from Saskatoon sent me a picture of some tracks in fresh snow and wondered if I knew what they were. Now, you might be thinking, Ed, we know who your brother-in-law from Saskatoon is. Yeah...not that one, the one who belongs to Deanie's sister Shirley. So, as I was saying, Gary sent this picture. Oh, wait, maybe you thought, what the hell would Ed know about tracks. Ok, I will admit, I am a city boy, born and raised, heck before Deanie's mom asked me, one day, to help her pick and shell peas from her garden I had always thought peas were grey and came from a can. Of course I've never hunted either, except for maybe that one day when I hunted around the city of Regina for the 7-11 with the best slurpee. You know, I might be able to identify a set of tracks in fresh snow, if they led from my front door to my truck, and I had just made them. Or, lets say I was given choices, say between that little dog, I forget the name of it, it's named after the Mexican state of Chihuahua, and that bear my nephew Thomas owns. I have a high level of confidence I could identify which was which. However I did give Gary an answer, because he didn't include a glove or something to show the scale of the picture, I was able to imagine them being a satellite image of somebody crossing a field of freshly fallen snow after having one too many drinks, or in my case one drink. He accepted.
