Antonini Reunion 2007

I think I just lost my first post, that's not a good sign.
Here I go again.

Following the examples of the blogs of Tricia and Bjorn I have decided to create this one so people can keep up to date with the progress made for the reunion in August. Here everybody can make known their opinions, ideas, concerns and questions.

The response to my emails has produced the following list of family hoping to attend:

Rob, Bonnie, Nicholas, Jessica, Therese, Mary, Christine, Len, Kelly, Amy, (Campbell), Marty, Karen, Mike, Diane, Lindsey, Luke, Shannon, Christine, Ron, James, Christine, Presley, Chris, Kristin, JJ, Nevan, Lucas, Marcia, Dennis, Shawn, Brant, Julianna, Kahless, Briana, Braden, Ed, Deanie, Heather, Holly, Jamie, Eddie, Mia, Lui, Ellie, Lou, Marie, Tricia, Brandon, Dana, Davis, Jack, Tony, Carol, Sonia, Justin, Jacob, Jordan, Dustin, Kelly, Keenan, Jenalee, Mary-Ellen, Bob, Anne Marie, Mike, Zach, Noah, Jacob, Barbara, David, Emmanuel, Grace Anne, Hannah Lynne, Louise, David, Paul, Alan, Melissa, Bjorn, Vic, Don, Michelle, Mike, Penny, Logan, Geron, Betty Jo, Bob, Louise, Steve and of course Mom. That makes 91.

News to date:

Holy Rosary Cathedral hall has been booked for the gathering Sunday August 26 from 12 to 5. People wishing to do so can invite their own family and close friends.

I ran into Art, the super at mom's building, and asked the capacity of the hospitality suite and he answered 40. The Cathedral hall is booked for a wedding the 25th so I am working on booking the student lounge at Campion College, with Heather's help, and it's looking hopeful.

Dave and Louise's offer to look after the snacks for Saturday is obviously too much to ask of them or any other couple. With ideas from the rest of you we should easily be able to come up with some kind of plan for feeding ourselves. Anybody else who have plans they need help with they need only ask for help.

Tony has answered my call for somebody to look after a budget for our event. Chris has let me know Marty has offered to play, Therese is looking after a performance program, Marcia has a great idea for family photos, Rob is looking after a cake for Sunday, and Vic and Don are looking after a photo and pin. Chris has also asked to let mom know what friends you are inviting. That is a good idea, it will be a little less overwhelming for mom if she knows who is coming.

That is what I have so far, like I said if there is any other news you will be able to post it here or let me know and I can. I am looking forward to seeing all of you. 159 and counting!

Hi Ed,
What a good idea to have a blog site to manage all the correspondence re: Mom's August party. It sounds like there is a lot of work going on, and the numbers are huge. I don't have any creative ideas to offer, but I am willing to help do whatever there is for me to do. I will continue to watch your blog to see if there is anything you need or want and to hear what others have to say & suggest. Thanks to all who have already done so much and who continue to help. Thanks Ed.
Lots of love,
Mary Ellen xoxoxoxoxo

Hey Eddie
Coooool! Nice idea bro. The family blog. Just thought I'd let everyone know that if you would like me to accompany you on a song on Saturday, you can let me know by emailing me: martyant@telus.net, or let me know here on this blog if it doesn't get too busy.
If anyone needs me for any other tasks, let me know.
HI EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!
Love, Martin A.

Louise and David said...

Well done, Ed!
You sure moved quickly on this idea and it's already an inviting site. With this forum we are probably all going to have fun anticipating our August reunion.

Thanks, too, for the plug for help with planning food for the Saturday gathering. Dave and I volunteered without full appreciation for the task we were undertaking. Who knew we'd be close to 100 for an intimate family gathering?

We are greatly impressed by the organization that has already happened around this event. With so many people to pitch in, preparations won't be overwhelming for any one person.

We'll be visiting this site often, Ed, wherever we happen to be in the world.
Cheers! Louise and David

Hi Ed

I agree with the previous writers that having a blog site for the reunion is a great idea. The anticipation of seeing all those who plan to attend sure adds to the excitement. Thanks to all those who got the ball rolling - already it's gathering momentum. Love from Vic.

Marty Antonini said...

Am I missing something or is Vic's entry on March 18, the last entry on the blog?

Bjorn said...

a food Idea could be a potluck type thing where everyone could bring something. this way the food cost is divided amoung lots of people. I will bring Cheerios :) I love those O's.

To the rest of the family my Blog Address is bjornbutcher.blogspot.com

My Mom Helped Me Write this!

Hi Ed,
Marty took the words right out of my mouth.

Yo, Marty, that's a yes on the gospel music you mentioned in your card. Keep me posted on how to learn the words and music.

It's fun to see you getting into the act, too, Bjorn. You are the youngest visitor to Ed's family reunion site so far. I see you are thinking about food; your mom mentioned that you like to eat. Whatever we do for refreshments on Saturday, you should still bring your own cheerios, Bjorn - Jack and Davis will probably enjoy them too. In fact, I can think of a few more wee ones who'll share those big O's with you. Bring a whole box!

Cheerio! Louise and Dave

Marty Antonini said...

Hey Louise

I'm so happy you are going to sing with us. I will send you the stuff as soon as it is ready. I'm sure you will find it easy and fun to learn.

I have forgotten my password

ed said...

ok I got it back. I was going to post every Sunday but Marty was so surprised to see no posts during the week and fankly, so was I. I'm still working on getting Campion for Saturday but their asking me questions I'm not sure of the answers. They want to know if we need a mike, I thought if Marty brings his stuff it's probably better than what they have there. Another thing they want to know is if we will be applying for a liquor permit, I wasn't intending to but let me know if you think I should. There is a cafeteria in Campion and the owners have catered events there, I will get prices from them and we can decide as a group what we want to do. I was hoping to see every body's name on the blog at least once just so I know they know I know they know it's here. I sent out an email two weeks ago to each family member and I'm only sure 4 know about this site. If you're like me and struggle to get in to leave a comment then you can send me an email to let me know you're keeping track of the progress or lack of towards this reunion. I think that's all I have to say, except...If she loves you, you feel the warmth in her hand even if she gives you a slap. If she's false, her very embrace will chill you to the bone.

Mary Ellen said...

Hi Ed,
I forgot my password, too. I usually use the same one for everything, but I was told that's not a good idea ( security, I guess). So I changed it, and forgot what it was. I finally remembered and so here I am leaving a comment. It's good to hear what other people are saying and offering to do for the reunion. Even little Bjorn is contributing cheerios! Do we need a coffee urn? I have a 100 cup one I could easily bring since we're coming by car. I can also bring the coffee, cream & sugar!Anything else I can do?? Hi to everybody from me.
Love,
Mary Ellen xoxoxoxoxo

Marty Antonini said...

Hey Eddie

Don't worry about a microphone. I'll bring lots and a good p.a. system.
By the way, I don't know if this is happening to some of you but every time I write, my password doesn't work and I have to re-register every time. Do any of you computer whizzes know how to remedy this.
Marty

Mary Ellen said...

Hey Marty,
I'm no computer whiz, but the same thing happened to me and I finally realized it wasn't the password but my username that was wrong.I was just putting in Mary Ellen for username and then my password. It kept saying invalid password, but it was my username that was wrong. I needed to put my email address for my username. Then it worked like a charm. Try that and see if it works. If not, then some computer whiz out there may be able to help. Cheers to all!
Love,
Mary Ellen xoxoxooxoxoxox

Who'd o' thunk my sister right here in Calgary would have the answer to my dilema. Thanks sis. That was the solution.
She has the answers to everything. She should start a "Dear Mary Abby" column.

Marty

Louise and David said...

Hi Ed,
This is too funny. I went through the same stuff that Mary-Ellen and Marty did over an "invalid password" and made the same discovery that they discussed regarding the user name.

You know, Ed, if you can figure out how to set up a guest book, people don't even have to have a Google Account; so visitor comments can be made more easily. Unfortunately, I can merely make the suggestion; I don't have a clue how these blog sites work. I just know I love to visit them.

I will be back often.
Cheers from Louise

Melissa said...

Hi Ed,
To expand on the guestbook Idea that Louise had Tricia used ultraguest.com and I copied the idea from her. It was a trial and error process to figure out but after a few tries I got it!
Hope that helps!
See you in August

Hi Ed et al,
I'm kind of signing off here, one day before we lose our Internet connection. I'm going to book a weekly time on the library computer so that I stay connected to all of you. I have so many sites to visit and so much to say that I don't know how I'll do it all in one hour. There's the challenge, eh! It's a good thing that I'm a speed-reader; now I'll have to up my typing speed - 45 wpm are not going to amount to much.
Cheers, wish me luck,
Louise

Hi Edward,
I have been so busy with master-classes, concerts, student recitals, birthday parties and dental appointments that this is my first opportunity to write. When I opened your blog (I put it in my favorites the very day it came) I laughed so hard that I can harldy write. Even as I type I keep bursting out laughing. Everyone is so funny that it is like a comedy hour. The blog was a great idea. I will make sure to visit it more often and leave an occasional comment, although I won't be able to keep up to the comedians in the family. It sure heightens anticipation for the reunion. Looking forward to seeing everyone then, and I will help in any way I can.
LOL (that's Laughing Out Loud AND Lots Of Love),
BJ

PS. I remembered my user name, but forgot my password! What a maroon!

ed said...

I'm just checking to see if my password is right

ed said...

OK I figured out which one I'm using here. I'm like Mary Ellen following the advice that I shouldn't use the same password for security reasons. So I always have to guess which one I'm using and where I use it.
It's good to see a little more activity on the blog. I apologize for not having a guest book to sign similar to Tricia's and Bjorn's, believe me it's not for a lack of trying.
Campion is still not confirmed but it still looks promising. It seems everything there passes through Heather's desk from one department to another so she is keeping her eye on the applications travels.
I don't have anything else to report except... When I'm at the brink, I don't think of the depths down below, but of a ladder.

Marty Antonini said...

Hey sisters

Those of you who will be singing should be receiving your music soon. You can let me know when you get it by replying on this blog if you like. thanks.

Hey Tony

Mail me your bank card and pin # and I'll deposit the dough.

Carol and Tony said...

I am republishing my earlier comment that I deleted by accident!?!?!?

I have agreed to be the budget manager. Please send me $100,000 each. Will that be cashiers' cheque or do you prefer EFT to my Swiss account?
Sorry! I was thinking about something else and kind of lost my train of thought.

Seriously, I am assuming that we will need snacks during the day and a supper meal catered to Campion on Saturday. Mary Ellen's offer to bring the coffee urn is hereby accepted. However, M.E. if you bring the regular; and, let me know what kind of decaf I should get for your urn, I will provide the decaf. Carol will bring her kettle and tea bags and pot (tea pot that is, I have no choice but to bring my own 'pot').

Ed will check Campion's rules concerning food and liquor and I will do some estimates based on various kinds of meals and some basics around snack food. It would help if people can indicate preferences. For example I would like to have diet cake, diet beer and diet ice cream.

My chinese son Dustin has purchased a "Wok Box" franchise and will be sending me a menu and special prices for the chinese option. I think he'll probably just double the price. We will also likely want to mix and match seeing as we likely have very many different tastes.

Ed needs a little help quantifying our liquor preferences as in Saskatchewan we will be required to quantify the ounces of "spirits" and numbers of beer and if Campion insists on providing the bar we will need to know who wants what.

Bye for now.

Tony

Hi Everyone,
I'm still laughing at everyone's comments! When I see all the password problems, I know we are all related!! Tony, I'll bring my coffee urn and my money - not anywhere near $100,000. but enough to pay our share of expenses!!! I like Marty's idea of getting your pin # and bank card and withdrawing ( oops, I meant depositing ) the moolah! The excitement is really beginning to build and August will probably be here before we know it. If there is anything more for me to do ( besides singing ) let me know.

Love & Misses,
Mary Ellen xoxoxoxoxoxo

Hey Mary Ellen

I'm so happy that you are going to sing with us. I will send you the music right away.
I noticed that you said- "besides singing", which means you will be singing. If you would have said- "other than singing", I would have misunderstood what you meant.

Hey BJ

Have you changed your mind also?
Let me know.

Tony,
You will have to fight the tax man for our thousands.
Edward,
Do you forget your pass-word every time you post?
Louise,
How do we get in touch with you by email?
Bjorn,
Please, bring enough cheerios for me, too. The original are my favorite. Bob likes the honey-nut kind.

Hi Betty Jo,
I never forget my password, in fact I never forget any of them. I just forget where I use whatever one I'm supposed to use wherever I am to use it. My ego has gotten so big over the years that I think everybody is out to steal my identity, I should let them would they be in for a shock,so i use a different password wherever and whenever a password is needed. You know for security reasons. When I was younger I taped them to the underside of my computer desk but I can't crawl under there anymore, the only one who can manage to squeeze under there is Eddie but the little guy can't read yet. I'm trying to dream up a new system, wish me luck.

Hi Ed et al,
A once-a-week visit to this site is just not enough. I spend my whole block of time catching up on the latest comments and regaining my composure. The librarian has not thrown me out yet but I think she's curious about what's so funny on line.

Betty Jo, my email address has not changed; I simply can't get to my in-box as often as I would like. In fact, the only thing that has changed is our living space. Our phone calls are being forwarded to us here at the strata and our PO Box number will be good for 6 months after we leave Port Alice.

Marty, keep up the pressure on those two unsinging sisters of ours. They'll be sorry if they aren't part of our inspirational performance - I think.

Tony, we are all "onto" you! Your request for individual funds to finance our family reunion could purchase an ocean-view condominium in Port Alice. Is there something you're not telling us?

Vic, have you ever had a request to make candied popcorn for 90+ people? You'll have to get an early start. Tony might be willing to buy some of the ingredients with the money he has left over after his real estate dealings.

Keep those comments coming. Our August reunion promises to be a continuation of the fun that we are already having.
Lots of love, Louise

Hey Marty,
If I'd known at the time
That you wanted a rhyme
I'd have written my message like this:
Marty:
If you want me to sing,
Give my agent a ring.
Mary-Ellen:
I've put Marty's demands
In your capable hands
Tony:
The money I'd fax
But I have to pay tax.
Edward:
Beware of the hazards
Of too many passwords.
Louise:
I'll write without fail
If you send your email (address, that is)
Bjorn and Vic:
We want cheerios from Bjorn
And from Vic, her popcorn.
And lastly, I'd like
To welcome you, Mike.
Yeah, I know...things rhyme now, but I still need work on my poetry.
Time to go,
Love, Betty Jo

Dear Ed et al,
This week Dave and I discovered that we have access to the Internet in our rental unit. We can't believe our luck. Now the librarian won't have to consider asking me to be quiet in my little corner of the library. I can laugh as loud as I like in the privacy of our temporary home.

Tonight, your four back-to-back comments got me giggling, Mike; then, BJ's clever poem added to the fun; Marty's "Cool Betty Jewel" was the final rib tickler. You guys are great!

By the way, Marty, my music package arrived yesterday and I am already practising - oh happy day!

Louise and David said...

Hi Everyone!
This site has been quiet for a few days. Maybe we have all been waiting for Ed to return from his trip to the Grand Canyon. Now that you're home, are you still at a loss for words, Ed?

I have a few other questions to ask, too. Ed, now that we have a confirmation on Campion College for Saturday's gathering, have we cancelled our booking for the party room in Westfield One?

Marty, I'm still practising my music but I'm struggling to get my 64 year old vocal chords to do the two "dipsy doodles" in my Leave It There solo. (I'll be 65 at the time of our performance). If my problems persist, I may call on one of my other sisters to make my solo a duet. Is that okay?

Mike, if we are out to set records on consecutive or cumulative blog entries you just have to say the word. You still hold the first title but Marty has appeared twice as often as anyone else so far. (My competitive nature urged me to check back.) Now I'm wondering who is going to register the 50th comment.

Has anyone mentioned family photos to be taken on our reunion weekend? I'm sure there will be lots of cameras clicking casual memories but wouldn't it be nice to have a few special, planned shots to record our family party with Mom in her 90th year?

I know that Mom doesn't get to visit this site herself but, in telephone conversations with her, I've mentioned a little about our discussions and plans. We're not trying to keep anything a secret are we? If so, all 90 of us should be notified. Now that's the last laugh!
Lots of love,
Louise

Louise and David said...

Ooops Marty,
It's the dipsy doodle chords that are challenging my vocal cords. (I didn't want to give you a chance to poke fun at my spelling. You're very quick to notice such SLIPES.)

Dear Marty,
Thanks for your vote of confidence; but I'm sure you'd at least like me to sing the right notes. I will continue to practice before enlisting sisterly help. We still have lots of time before August.

I see you missed the misspelling of my name. Throughout my life I have suffered from the shifting of the letter "i" in my name. As you can imagine, it's hard to get beyond the salutation: "Dear Lousie". Fortunately, the eye reads what it wants to see as long as the first and last letter of a word are correct. Hence, your latest posting was not only funny but it was relatively easy to decipher.

You beat all of us to the 50th entry on the family blog, too. I wonder who will make the 90th in honor of Mom????
Lots of love, Louise

BJ said...

Dear Louise,
Is that a challenge? Be the 90th to add to the blog? You will have us all checking every hour once we get into the 80s.
I have to admit I've never thought of the 'lousie' spelling. (Have I ever committed it?)Do you get it often? What a bummer. The mispelling of mine is always an 'e' added to the Jo, as in Joe. Yet another reason to stick to BJ. Although I suppose that could encourage BS or BO. Does anyone ever use BO now? In our younger days it was very common--both the acronym and the presence of it. And as far as BS goes, it is a far too mild an expletive to use today. Oh, well, what's in a name?
Hi to everyone else, too.
BJ

Marty Antonini said...

Hey Louise

Sorry, but I don't mean to hog the blog. I'm just doin' business here.
(What the heck, maybe I'll write 40 more times tonight while everyone else is asleep.
By the way, I would like you to learn the chorus "note for note" so we all sync up our parts. When you sing your solo, you can sing what's written or improvise a bit if you like. Cool out. It'll be a blast. We'll have fun.
By the way, I tried to spell your name wrong but my spell corrector warned me that certain words are too precious and should be respected rather than tampered with.

Hey BJ

You think you and Louise have it bad...sometimes people get my M mixed up with an F.

Love,
yer little brother
Marty

Louise and David said...

Hi BJ and Marty,
Thanks for your empathetic responses. After your respective admissions, I don't feel so offended by the misspelling of my name any more. "Misery loves company".

No, BJ, you have never addressed me as Lousie; (and that's no BS). To the credit of my entire family, not one of them has made that mistake over the years.

Oooh, Marty, I love the personal touch of your spell checker, not allowing you to tamper with precious names. You are too kind! You'll be pleased to hear that I already know my part in the chorus of our songs and I am determined to do a good job of the solo as well. I'm not worried; I'm having fun singing up a storm.

Yes, BJ, that 90th entry on the blog is a challenge. In fact, I had you in mind since Mom tells me that you are using every opportunity to remind her that she is in her 90th year.

Marty, none of us minds if you "hog the blog". In fact, if you sit up and make all those entries tonight, you'll have most consecutive entries, most cumulative entries, and the 50th and the 90th comments. Just in case, I'm already dreaming up my next challenge. Mike, where are you? you've already beat us all at electronic Yatzee; the Reunion Remarks Race is on....
Love, Louise

It's nice to hear that so many of the sisters have practiced with their cds already. I wish we all lived in the same town. We could start a family band. It would be a dream come true for me. Who knows, maybe someday I will travel the world and see each one of you and record a big album.
By the way, what is your availability for the Junos and the grammys in 2009.

lousie (lucy) i kinda like that, this is how nicknames are born, i think i'm gonna give a prize for a certain entry number, but it is'nt 90, i know my brilliant sisters will probably figure out what entry i've got in mind. its official there will be a prize for the entry i'm thinkin about, i'd love to chat longer, but i have an appointment to go to - taxi!!!

Louise and David said...

Hi there!
Mike, you give your sisters far too much credit (although I must admit that I already have the winning number in mind). I won't be posting my guess just yet.

Marty, I'm already a grammy and that may well be the reason that that I will not qualify for a juno in 2009 or any other year for that matter! It's too late! Still, Dave and I will welcome you at our stop-over on your future world tour.

In the meantime, I'm continuing to work on our reunion songs with dedication and enjoyment.
Love, Louise

Mary Ellen said...

Hi Mike,
Very intriguing......! And how kind of you to pronounce Lousie as Lucy. That's much nicer than how I assume it sounds!!! Louise, I haven't got much of an idea about what Mike's number is ( I have one rather poor idea ), so I am quite impressed that you have the winning number in mind. Maybe I'm not one of the brilliant sisters that Mike was talking about???? Hey Ed, where are you? Have you forgotten your password or username? Thanks to everyone for all the laughing I've been doing as I read the comments. You know the old saying. "Laughter is good for the soul". Keep 'em comin'.
Laughing out loud,

BJ said...

Hi Mike,
Well, you may think your sisters are brilliant, but here's one who sure doesn't have YOUR number. Louise sounds pretty sure, and Mary-Ellen claims one poor idea, but I haven't a clue.
Hey Ed,
Where are you? Maybe you need to sign up with a new Google account, a new password and a secretary to keep track of it.
I'm expecting Rob to show up on the Blog any day now. He said he was planning to, but hadn't signed up yet. It would also be good to hear from some of the others.

Very intriguing..... Mike, you give your sisters far too much credit. You may think your sisters are brilliant, but here's one who sure doesn't have YOUR number.
Now I think that since Mike 'did' specify that a sister would figure out the number, the boys should refrain from entries until the contest is over.
By the way, it wouldn't be #60 now would it? If so, send the prize to your long lost sister.

Love, Martina xoxoxoxo

Melissa said...

Sorry Marty, you were looking for the 60th spot. I guess I jusr beat ya.!
As for as the scores go for mosr entries and the 50th entry. Louise you had the 50th.
As of the 62 entry Marty is in 1st place with 18 entries, Louise is 2nd with 11, and Mary Ellen is 3rd with 6, 3 people are in 4th.
And for most entries in a row Mike you have that one with 4.
The race is on for comment #90.

mary ellen - do you think louise will think its kind of us to say lucy. i don't think so, she'll probably kill us, but i'll give it a try. lucy, i knew you'd guess the number right away, but i'm probably going to spoil it for you, i have to give b.j. a clue, because she says she dos'nt have a clue. martina, if anyone guesses before the actual entry, you'll be disqualified. 60 was wrong but i'm givin you another chance sis.

now, the clue for b.j., martina and the boys. - poor melissa probably dos'nt have a chance at guessing the right entry because she dos'nt know how many brothers and sisters there are. there is now going to be a race to the number. ha! no multiple entries allowed at the same time!!!

i'm thinking of getting a couple of pet gold fish. i'm gonna name em 1 and 2, so that if 1 dies i'll still have 2

I may be just an In-Law but I know the #'s in the Antonini family - I have done my homework.
Remenber that Alan has a VERY large family the Antonini's and his biologicial family. I have 3 mothers & fathers In-law. It took me a few years to get his family straight as to who belongs where and after nearly 6 years I get to meet more of his family. I 'm sure that I will be confused again. But for the most part I know whats going on and I have a few guess with after reading the clues.
Give me a chance I might suprise you!

P.S I'm # 66

Hi Everyone,
I love that clever "Where's Ed-Waldo?" question, Mike, but stop with the "clues" on your hidden number. I DID have your number right off the bat and now several others are probably standing by to beat me to the entry. Get out of my way. . . BJ, ME, Martina et al.

Wow, Melissa, you really did a thorough check of individual tallies on the blog. I just knew that Marty was making most appearances. After all, that's his profession, isn't it?

Today, it's four months to Lou's birthday which falls on the Monday after our reunion weekend. When we're all together, he's bound to get a few pre-birthday greetings, I'm sure - about 90 of them, to be exact, but at least 59. Can you golf your age yet, Lou?

Mike - I hope you're not still waiting for that taxi you ordered a few entries ago. We are no longer in service.

Well hello everyone. I thought I'd better sign on and let you know that I somehow missed Ed's email about having a blog for this. Needless to say I have been out of touch and was worried that I hadn't been communicating & sending another bulletin. Whew! This is a relief! Thanks Ed! Anyway, I'm one week away from our regional competition so probably won't get a chance to read the 71 comments until after that so I'll send any ideas and comments after that. Love - The Great Communicator.

Louise and David said...

Welcome Christine,
We wondered where you were but we had a pretty good idea that Sask Tel and Prairie Gold were vying for your time. In those arenas you ARE The Great Communicator. Still we've missed you on the reunion blog site.

We hope your chorus does well in the Regional Competition; their goal will be set and, together, they'll be reaching for it with skill, determination and vision. Let us know what happens.

We await your return. Mike will have awarded one of us his prize by then for sure. I'll share it with you.
LOL, Louise

Hey Melissa, You are not alone in your confusion. Bob, as the number one in-law (or outlaw, as he calls himself) has been confused since he first encountered this family. He claims that in the 45 years he has known this family, there was only ONE family event at which he actually knew everyone in the room. I wonder if that is why he is doing the family tree?
Lucy, you can have sole possession of Mike's prize, as no number occured to me when it was first mentioned. Clues should only count as confirmation of your first guess!
Mike,Very clever with your Ed-Waldo comment.I wish I had said that!!
Welcome Christine. It is always good to see someone new on the Blog. Don't be a stranger, now.
Vic, have you remembered your password yet?
We're getting kind of close to the 90th message. Is there going to be a mad scramble to get it?
Ed, How have you been? WHERE have you been? We are all missing you.
Love, BJ

Louise and David said...

You are too kind, BJ. I don't want to win by default, though. Besides that, we're all just assuming that we know the answer. Mike might be steering us in the wrong direction and laughing at us as we deal with his clues. However, if we ARE on the right track we should know the truth any time now....

By the way .... I love Lucy!

I'll be in Regina this coming weekend. You can catch my sisters and me on stage at the Center of the Arts. Rumour has it you may even see our Mother up there.

Unbelievable, I go away for a few days and you people go nuts. I was going to read all the blogs to catch up but my stomach got sore and my vision was disabled by the tears of laughter. I just spent an hour printing this out for mom, it's too funny for her to miss. So if there is anything you don't want her to see you have until Monday night to let me know. I'm still trying to place a guest book on the site although I'm not sure I need it anymore. Tricia offered to help so I sent her my user name and password but she emailed back she couldn't get in. Sure enough I sent her the wrong password. Yes Betty Jo I forget my password everytime I post. Louise, I was at a loss for words after my trip to the Grand Canyon it's the Tiger Woods of Canyons. You also asked about a family photo at the reunion, I'm hoping Marcia will join the blog and talk to us of that. Betty Jo I tried to hire a secretary but she complained about the advances I was making. Now she says I can make my own meals and do my own laundry from now on. Gee! Thanks for the suggestion. Mike, I've been called a lot of things in my life, "tree blight" from emerging from the trees after an erant drive with twigs in my hair(I did have hair at one time) "Eagle Eye" after easily finding another erant drive in hip high rough. "Eddie 81" from being so close but never being able to make that short putt to break 80. "Edweirdo" by a disgruntled sister. "Uncle Led" by a disgruntled sister's son. I probably deserved them all but it would take you to come up with "Waldo". Good one. I'm going to post now, if you're reading this,I remembered my password.

Lots of Love

Whatever you want to call me.

Hello everyone I was talking to Marty today and he suggested I should get on this great blog. So I am and have a short story about the kids, Nicholas and Jessica took the brothers cd to school for music class the teacher saw the lion sleeps tonight and printed out and the kids had to sing along with uncle Marty but in the process of getting the song started the teacher said you kids will remember this song from the Lion King but when he pushed the button to sart the song the kids only uncle Len say Jimmy Buffet wrote this song trying to explain the craziness. 5 times until he finnally got the right song. Jessica says all the kids loved the cd especially their dad who one little boy thought sounded like michael Jackson.

Louise and David said...

Hi there, Lucy here....
Marty, I love your image of this blog being a room in which we are gathered - with comments being thrown in at random. We're still waiting for Therese, Lou and Len to arrive.

Marcia, you've already livened up the party by making a flambouyant entry - welcome. You know very well that we'll all go along with your "costume requirements". We learned long ago to follow your lead for fun, fun, fun.

Melissa, don't worry about the Antinini spelling of the family name. It fit in appropriately after Dad's familiar "How many?" He also had a unique way of saying Antonini - something like you wrote it but more like Ant'nini. Well done, you, getting us to the 100 mark!

Ed, if you give Mom a copy of our comments, you will likely be given the added task of bringing back her own remarks. We await Mom's first entry on Ed's Edition. Any guesses on what number she will post?

Rob, aren't kids great? Now, are you working on your Michael Jackson impersonation for the rest of us to evaluate?

BJ, there's no such thing as cheating when competing in this forum! Heck, you are the one who walks on the shoulders of other airline passengers to be the first out of the gate. Go for it!

Mike, I am content to wait for my prize for guessing 77. I've got a feeling it has to be delivered in person. Dave and I can't believe that you are still waiting for the taxi. Maybe we'll accommodate you in August - once more for old time's sake. Now, can you wait that long?

ME, your AA joke fits right in there with the humor that Marty and Mike are tossing in from time to time. We're all silly enough to laugh at anything right now, aren't we?

Christine, we know you aren't going to be back until after competion; Tony, are you pressing "delete" instead of "enter"; Vic, I can lend you my password if you like.

If the Grand Canyon is the Tiger Woods of canyons, Ed's Edition has to be the Wayne Gretzky of blog sites. Ed, let's scrap the idea of a guest book and stick with the comments that your original post has generated. I wonder what the total will be by the time we meet in Regina and who will have the last word?
Luv Lucy

Q: How many Antoninis does it take to change a light bulb?
A: 14. One to man the stop watch, one to organize the round robin, and the remaining 12 to see who can change it the fastest!

Melissa, you have really done your homework! Are you sure you aren't a long lost Antonini?! We can't wait to meet our little cousin Bjorn!

Greetings Holly - welcome. Believe it or not, you are just the 15th person to record a comment on the blog. Can you believe that so few of us are causing such a stir? Wait until the other 76 reunion attendees catch on!!! The party has barely started.

I'll bet that's a surprise you didn't expect. It seems that David and I are already operating on "retirement time" - no work, no rush.

We truly are just hours away from pulling the plug on our computer and packing it into the truck for our eastward journey. We will be on the road to Kelowna early tomorrow morning.

When we reach Calgary (around about next Monday), we'll drop in here again; Melissa will encourage that, I'm sure. Mmmmmmm, I wonder how many entries we will have to read then to catch up with all of you.

Isn't it great that Mom and Barb are enjoying our family blog-site conversation? They're right here in the room with us and, for once, they don't have to worry about missing what each of us has to say. I suspect that Mom will want to get a word in herself very soon.......
Good bye to all until next week,

Hi Mike,
The reason I know that Grandpa Ant'nini would ask "How many...?"
Is because one day I told Mary Elen, That I had to give Bjorn one million kisses a day as part of his kiss quota and She said that Grandpa would of asked "How Many Kisses?" and told me the story of him. Its all a part of my Family homework!

Hey Melissa,
I think about my dad everyday. Like my daughter Heather would say He made me who I am and reminds me of who I want to be. I started recording the steps i take everyday Sept 23, 2005. Betty Jo's Barker Bugle taught me how to tie a shoe lace so it would not come undone, now when I tie it I think of my dad, I would say to him, "Dad, I have this shoelace tie that hasn't come undone for millions of steps" and i can hear him smile and say "How many?" I'd smile back and say "7 million five hundred and forty six thousand."

I miss him often

Well, I have been following the comments from the beginning and I laughed a lot. That is until Ed's entry about the millions of steps and his final line - then I cried! I must be getting old because I've cried a lot lately - and I thought your skin got thicker as you got older.

Anyway, since it took me so long to join in the fun I thought I would create a contest and award a prize to the winner. Of course, the prize will be presented at the party in August.

Here's how the contest goes:

I have listed all the siblings names and have made a comment beside each one. The comments are kind of related to the blog. Each comment is actually a misquoted name of a song that was performed by my favorite band when I was young.

The winner will be the first sibling who correctly identifies the actual names of all fourteen songs and posts the answers on the blog. I am the judge and jury and will let you know if you are correct. The first correct entry to be posted wins. Be careful, there may be one or two words that need to be changed in order to get the correct song title.

Betty-Jo: Do you want to know a password?
Vic: Golden Popcorn.
Louise: Now I'm Sixty-four.
Mary-Ellen: Hello hello.
Tony: Money (That's what I need).
Lui: With a little help from my family.
Ed: Got to get you into my blog.
Marcia: I don't want to miss the party.
Christine: Here comes the concert.
Mike: All you need is a taxi.
Marty: I'm happy just to sing with you.
Len: Don't let me be last.
Therese: No entry.
Rob: Doctor Doctor.

Good Luck

Marcia and Vic are in town for the Sweet Adelines Competition and Marcia is directing a family chorus of different chorus members who have family here. Heather, Amy, Christine are in it along with Vic, Christine, Therese and mom, Jenna Lee was expected as well but she is under the weather. I took Heather to the rehearsal and Len and I stayed to watch. Marcia is amazing and the chorus surprised the hell, oops! I mean the heck out of me, I forgot mom is reading this stuff. They are doing "Rockin Robin" and one of my favorites "There are Places". You know by that band, their name is on the tip of my tongue right under my nose. Anyway, we've had a couple reunion rehearsals while they are here, good stuff.

Mary Ellen said...

WAIT FOR ME!!! Wow you guys are fast! BJ, I think you're the winner. I had a couple of them wrong (Like Good-bye, Good-Bye for me) and I didn't know either Therese's or Rob's. BJ, you obviously listened to more than just classical music when you were young!! You are very well-rounded musically! Good job BJ and good contest Lui. Welcome to the blog, Lou, and thanks for the fun you've generated with the song contest. I can't believe your knowlege of songs. I know it's not just the Beatles, but any and all songs. Man!
Hey Ed! It sounds like you and a whole bunch of the family are starting the reunion party early. Say hi to everyone and enjoy each other's company while you have the chance. My softened heart wishes I could be there with you.

I've seen the way you guys do your music contests--it's a whole other world--awesome. I don't expect to know much the second time round. Thanks for the fun.
Love, BJ

Ok get ready. My new contest will be posted tonight at 6:00 pm Calgary time. No, not Eastern time like almost everything else. I'm not sure it matters whether you are the first to see it - It is tough and it will take a long time to solve. If it ever gets solved!!

Lui said...

So , we need 15 song titles and the performer ( I added one for Mom). Each one relates in some way to the family member it is beside.

Sorry Melissa but I do believe this one is really tough! So tough that the deadline for entries is high noon on Tricia's birthday. Of course the first person to post all the answers prior to noon on May 21 is the winner. If no-one gets them all by that time, then the person to post the most correct answers by the deadline will be declared the winner.

Betty-Jo: You could say she is. I understand sometimes it gets very cold down under.
Vic: A FEMALE impersonator - not! A famous title song from much earlier than 1982.
Louise: We thought she was going to be one. It was not to be. I can't believe it knocked me out of the number one spot on the charts.
Mary-Ellen: Not Peggy Sue. She wouldn't do and neither would the other two. But both her girls are covered.
Tony: I guess you could have called him this a long, long time ago. Mind you, he was pretty tough and you might have ended up shedding a few. And they could have landed right where he said they did.
Lui: I did a lot of goofy things when I was a kid but I don't think I was ever a runaway. No, that would be too easy but he did write this one that became part of the British Invasion.
Ed: Didn't think he would get that big of a family with only two children. I think this is quite evident with them all. Kind of a shell game isn't it.
Marcia: I think she does a lot of travelling in the winter especially to see the grandchildren. However, in the summer I think she spends her time in Victoria and likely does a little of this. Most moms and dads would in her place!
Christine: Love the music at those concerts. With all those amazing voices you could almost think this. Ultimate!
Mike: Close enough. Sometimes you need a little poetic license. Betty Jo still lives there.
Marty: They do and he does. He made it a number 1 hit but they didn't.
Len: Len has charisma but we like him more because he's got this too!
Therese: I understand Therese quite often goes to Mom's by herself and helps her out. Sometimes this happens too! They were acquaintances at least.
Rob: He's one of the living, no need to say any more. Except watch for waterfalls.
Mom: This is not about pennies from heaven (of course they're brown) which she also loves to get. Just realized I've got three brothers-in-law by that name.
Good Luck

HOLY COW! Here goes:
I haven't a clue, but I'll cancel spring and try to get at least one right.Good luck may not be enough, but what a lot of fun you've created, Lui.

Lui said...

Sorry about that. I guess they seem too obvious when you know the answers and appear impossible if you don't. Take them one at a time I know you can do it. Once you get one you'll begin to get more. When you think you've got one email me I'll let you know if you are correct. lantonini@shaw.ca.

Hey Lou

How ya doin'? Did I ever tell you how much I like having you as my big brother. Whenever I have a problem I need solved, you've always been there for me. We should get together sometime, with my piano, and sing some old songs.

Lui said...

Sounds great!!!!! As a matter of fact I have fifteen old ones from the 50's and 60's that I'd love to try. Are you busy on the 22nd?

P.S. Marty, I suggest you get going, One of your siblings has sent me guesses on most of them and actually has five correct answers so far!!

Marty Antonini said...

Hey Lou You don't actually think I was trying to get clues from you. Do You?

P.S. 50's and 60's huh?

Lui said...

Wow!
I'm having more fun than anyone. I've been getting emails with answers and it's amazing. I find myself checking my email every couple of hours.
I hope you're having as much fun as me.

So, here's the score to date:
Ed 5
Marcia 4
Betty Jo, Mary Ellen, Marty 2
Holly 1

Correct solutions have been submitted for Vic, Louise, Mary-Ellen, Lui, Ed, Marcia and Mom.

The race is on! I know, I know Pride is in the backstretch! watch out though, heartache's goin' to the inside!

Shame on You!!!! To think that I would stoop so low as to try to con my own brothers for their answers. I miss my brothers and simply wanted to enjoy some quality time with them. My feelings are hurt.

P.S. If you would like to apologize I am listening.

P.P.S. By the way, I'll trade you 2 of yours for Edward's.

I have a problem I need solved. I can't get my own song. Can you help me out?
ME,
I'll give you Mom's if you give me Lui's.
Mike,
Lucy's in transit. I sure hope she gets her computer up and running as soon as she gets to Scotland. She will hate to be missing all of this. I don't think there is much danger of anyone getting all 15 before she jumps in. I'll give you a clue or two if you email me.

ATTENTION EVERYBODY!!!

I have heard through the grapevine that people might have been trading siblings. This should be disallowed unless all information which is being transacted, be screened through my email.

I have spoken with Lou and he has sanctioned this... or at least I will speak with Lou.

Hey BJ

Don't let anyone know we are in cahoots.

Marty

Mary Ellen said...

JUST A SECOND HERE!Who are these siblings who are swapping songs, and how do I get in on the act??? Oops, I mean I'll help Marty do the screening.
Also, I've heard that Louise has touched base with this blog and may even be starting to solve some of the puzzling clues. If that is the case we may be in trouble guys! Mike was wondering where Lucy was. Well she's on her way to Scotland tomorrow. Hopefully we will soon see her on the blog. We miss you Louise!
If anyone wants my opinion on any of their guesses, just sent them to me and I'll let you know what I think.

Dear rules committee:

Due to certain parties' unavailabilities at 10:00 am,(the middle of the night), the submissions committee would prefer to receive their clues no later than 3:00 am (bedtime), tonight,
preferably sent confidentially to your favorite brother, Marty's email.
To be fair, we will not submit entries until after 4:00 am.
We thank you for your prompt reponse in this matter.

How the heck did to you get Lennie?

Sorry I've taken so long, I'm not very happy with the contest, I only know Jimmy Buffet songs, and therefore don't have a clue of any of the titles. I think Lou knew this, and had to make a contest he knew that I couldn't win, (remember our boys reunion at Lou's)

Although i haven't posted before I have been reading the blog and I've been thinking about all of you. I guess you could say my song title could be "If the phone doesn't ring, you know that its me" of course the artist is Jimmy Buffet

I was going to tell a joke, but Kelly says I shouldn't print it, so I'll wait for the reunion. ME do you remember my joke at the first reunion that none of my four oldest sisters could get?

Later

BJ said...

Hi Len,
Welcome to the Blog. I have to admit that this contest does favor the older members of the family, but 'don chu-know' that you gotta 'bend a little', try 'changing channels', tell yourself that 'someday I will' at least give 'lip service' to recognizing other singers. Of course 'only time will tell' whether you're willing to do that, and knowing you, I guess you will say "I only know Jimmy Buffet songs"--'that's my line and I'm stickin to it'.

Marty,
I knew what Len's song was about. It just took me a while to get there. I'm waiting for the new clues to finish my list.

Lucy,
R U here yet?
Love, BJ

Mary Ellen said...

Welcome Len,
Good to see you. We've been waiting for you. My brain is in a tizzy right now, trying to remember the joke you referred to.I can't remember. I'm thinking it's because my poor old brain has been working so hard to solve Lui's puzzle, that it has seized up. Give me a clue, Len, and I'll see if it comes back to me. It 9:45 and I'm expecting Lui's new hints any minute. I don't have much of a chance to beat that Ed or BJ, but I'll try!!! I'd include Marty in that but according to the Submissions Association, he's still asleep!!!
Cheers,
ME

Lui said...

OK, so Ed just got Marty's so he's in the lead with 13. BJ's right behind him with 12. Marty and Mary Ellen are stuck at 10. So here's a chance to catch up a little:

New or further clues are as follows:

Mom - A great Mothers Day present!
BJ - you'll likely get it if you can figure out what they call a really cold night in the Austrailian outback.
Vic - You can hear this on most radio stations.
Louise - Think of Sally Field
ME - Peggy Sue wouldn't do! But they were lookin' for romance.
Tony - You might shed a few if you don't catch up. If you do and you are in bed at the time everything might fall into the right place.
Lui - It's not Del Shannon - He SANG Runaway. He wrote this one.
Ed - If you've ever seen Ed's family all in one place you can't miss this. Smiles and laughter everywhere.
Marcia - I think the Monkees sang about something like this too! Had something to do with the Homecoming Queen.
Christine - God is the Ultimate being.
Mike - If you ask Mike he'll also say he did it his way.
Marty - The song was (and was not) the B side of a very famous song. In fact I think it's the most covered song of all time.
Len - Jimmy Buffet has absolutely nothing to do with this song. But one of his songs had something to do with it. Except I don't think Jimmy ever strolled down Green Avenue.
Therese - Well it sure wasn't Jones that came along.
Rob - He only has one of these! One of the others too, but only one of these.

Marcia said...

Wow! I am impressed. I can't even get these with the new clues. Pretty bad - I'm just waiting to hear the answers.
So it's Mother's Day - but not Mom's 90th this time. Hey, BJ?
It's sure fun reading the blog - the most correspondence we've ever done - finally something that appeals to the laziness in all of us. (OK, not Lucy)
Getting excited now. Lots of love to all, Marcia

BJ said...

Hi Marcia,
No, I didn't congratulate Mom on her 90th MD, but I did send her a card. Although every month is her 90th there are quite a few events that are not.
Good to see you back. I'm getting excited too, although we have two trips between now and the reunion. What a blast this contest has been. So clever of Lui. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
Love, BJ

Hey Marcia,
I agree with you that this contest is a blast! I've had more fun than I can say. Even guessing wrong has been fun. I just guessed one for Len, but it wasn't right. Got to hurry - time is running out!
Hey Lucy,
Hope you're relaxing in Scotland.
Hey BJ,
It's only Mom's 68th year as a Mom. She's in her 69th! You know that better than all of us.
Hey Lui,

Lui said...

Well, it’s official …………………Ed was the first to send me all 15 song names.
I’ve listed them below with an explanation of the clues although in most cases they are self explanatory.

Thank you to everyone for participating. The last week has been wonderful for me, getting so many emails from my brothers and sisters. We all have extremely busy lives and to be able to interact so intensely with everyone has been so much fun.

There are a few of you who put a lot of time into it so as Betty-Jo so succinctly put it - It’s time to get back to Spring!!

I called Mom this morning and had a wonderful Mother’s Day chat with her. I want to wish all my sisters and sisters-in-law a Happy Mother’s Day as well.

B J...One...Three Dog Night - After all she is the first born. It’s said that the aboriginals in Australia call a very cold night a ‘three dog night’ because you need three dogs around you to keep you warm.
Vic...The Sound of Music...Julie Andrews - Julie Andrews starred in Victor Victoria and posed as a female impersonator which as a female she was not. Julie Andrews also starred in and performed the title song ‘The Sound of Music’ much earlier in 1959-60
Louise...Dominique...The Singing Nun - As we all know, Louise once considered being a nun back in her younger days. Also, the song that was number one the week before Dominique became number one was Louie, Louie by the Kingsmen.
M.E...Barbara Ann...The Beach Boys - Mary Ellen’s daughters are Ann Marie and Barbara so the song covers them both. In the song one line goes ‘Tried Peggy Sue, tried Betty Lou, tried Mary Lou but I knew she wouldn’t do - Barbara Ann’
Tony...Tears on my Pillow...Little Anthony and the Imperials - There was a time calling Tony little might have gotten you a bop in the nose and you likely would have shed a few tears.
Lou...I go to Pieces...Peter and Gordon - Del Shannon was joined by Peter and Gordon on a concert tour. He had written the song and gave it to them to record. Of course these days I relate to the song title especially when ‘...my baby passes by…’
Ed... Happy Together...Turtles - No question, whenever you see them together you see they are a very happy family. I had to throw in the ‘shell’ clue to make it slightly easier.
Marcia...California Dreamin‘...Mamas and Papas -Marcia’s grandchildren live in California so when she’s in Victoria she likely dreams of them in California -- at least most mama’s and papa’s would.
Chris...I hear a Symphony...The Supremes - I had heard the expression ‘a symphony of voices’ so that gave me the idea. I use the thesaurus feature in Microsoft Word quite often when I’m writing reports so when I put supreme in it one of the words that was listed was ultimate. Had you done the same with ultimate, you may have picked up on ‘supreme’.
Mike...Diana...Paul Anka - When I was deciding on Mike’s song this one popped into my head right away. It was so close to Mike’s Diane I figured I could get away with it. With a little poetic license of course. If you knew Paul Anka came from Ottawa it made it quite a bit easier.
Marty...Act Naturally...Buck Owens - This was tough. The song goes.. ‘They’re gonna put me in the movies….’ which they do with Marty and if you’ve seen him he acts naturally. Buck Owens made it to number 1 on the Country charts. The Beatles also performed it but it didn’t hit number 1.
Len...Theme From A Summer Place....Percy Faith and his orchestra - Obviously Len now owns the family cottage at Regina Beach which of course was our ‘Summer Place’ for many, many years.
Therese...Along Comes Mary...Association - Another tough one although I tried to give a hint by saying she went by herself when we all know the girls quite often go with her. Also association can be found in the meanings for ‘acquaintance’ in the Thesaurus.
Rob...The Seventh Son...Johnny Rivers - I made the reference to living because of the first Luigi as Robert would have been the eight son had he lived. I’m not sure what I would have been - maybe Ed!! Of course if you are on a river it’s a good thing to check for waterfalls.
Mom...Roses are Red...Bobby Vinton - Everyone knows finding pennies is one of Mom’s loves because she believes they are sent from Heaven. I think she loves roses even more. I can even remember her carving roses into the butter. Also, everyone knows I have two brothers-in-law named Bob on our side but Marie’s brother’s name is Bob Gunn which makes three.

Hope you had as much fun as I did.

BJ said...

Dear Lui,
Thanks for a wonderful time. We had a great time, and I'm sure we had as much fun as you did.
Ed,
Congratulations! You really poured your heart, soul, body and mind into it and you deserve to win. Of course, I also think you are a little crazy!
May the names of a million songs haunt you. How many? At least a million.
Love, your also-ran-sister, BJ

Hello all,

Sorry it took me so long to sign on. I spent a lot of time just catching up on the postings that were already there.

I just started working on Lou's brilliant contest last week. The answers are so clever (once you know them of course). BJ and I brainstormed a bit on mine yesterday, but I was unable to get it. To be honest, I only got about four or five of them. BJ says it is because I'm so long, so I'm going with that.

I'm looking forward to the reunion, especially as it will follow a vacation of almost two weeks - the longest I have taken in years! I'm excited about our performance on Sunday, so be sure to let me know what you're doing, how much time you need, and any equipment or props you might need.

Like Marcia, Lou's answers got me thinking about one of my babies too - wish I was on my way to visit her.

Sorry that should have read because 'I'm so young' not 'I'm so long' - I hear the typing is the first thing to go.

Hello all,

I know you thought I spent every waking moment on Lou's contest last week, but there were two minutes I took a break and made arrangements for catering at the church gathering Aug 26. The CWL is going to serve coffee and juice and make up sandwiches along with cheese and pickles and a few dainties. They are planning for 150 at a cost to us of $4.00 per head. Oh Yeah, there were one or two other minutes I met with the Henderson Cafe at Campion to discuss catering on the 25th. They are unable to for lack of staff on that day. That leaves us open to other options, one of which would be our own nephew Dustin providing us with a delicious Chinese dinner from the Wok Box.
Other news I have is Marcia has volunteered to make up name tags for Saturday so we know who we all belong to. We have accepted her offer with great appreciation. Love you Marcia.
One last note, May 14th, 58 days after my original post, the family of 14 has checked in with therese's posts. It's a good day.

Love to all
