Hi Gang (note the capital G),
Marcia, Dennis, Don and I were trying to figure out a good way to handle the thousands of pictures being taken over the weekend. What we came up with was that I was going to gather as many as I could and simply make a CD album of them AND probably post them on the internet. Lindsey has started a collection on Facebook but not everyone is a member, so we will figure another way. I just wanted to assure you that there would be lots of pictures and no one will be cut out. OK? I have Marcia/Dennis's, Don's, Stephen's and my own so far. I'll keep you all posted on this.

Thomas and I got talking about the great number of people we never really got to sit down and talk with over the weekend. It bothered me some until I figured that I really spent the weekend (about nine hours on Saturday and about six hours on Sunday)with all of you and it was the total experience that counted for a great deal. In any case, I was absolutely delighted to be there and have a weekend with everyone. Thanks a million.

Uncle Bob, I felt the same way. There were lots of people that I did get to sit down and chat with, but many more that I didn't spend nearly enough time with! However, on the positive side, it was so nice to have had this blog to get reacquainted (is that spelled right?) with everyone before the weekend. For example, when I saw Thomas at the beach, I thought "Hey, I know you!" instead of "Who are you? Am I related to you?" (That's what I said to Stephen, but in my defense, Thomas tried to trick me into believing Stephen couldn't come at the last minute, though I think he underestimated my gullibility...).

It was also great visiting with my cousins now that we are all in our mid-20s to 40s. We seem to have much more in common than when we were ages 0-20! And it was easier to say good bye to everyone, knowing that I would see you all on the blog (and Facebook!) very soon!

I think a good way to share pics is on a free website like the one Thomas or I have, or perhaps figuring out how to post them here at edsedition. I'll leave that to the more computer savvy and less time-constrained of the bunch.

Thank goodness, the blog is still here. Although, as Kelly and I figured out after going through Lindsay's compilation of guest book highlights, the family has been blogging for 21 years. Why would it go away now?

Anyway, plenty more to come tomorrow (I know, it's already tomorrow for most of you). This post is just to let my mom and Kelly know that I'm home safe and sound.

And Lorraine loved her rosary, especially the fact that Grandma prepared it for her by praying on it. Please let Grandma know.

Manana!

Good morning Canada,
Good to see the blog has not completely blogged down. I hope it will continue to flourish as we all settle back into our routines.
Thomas,
Thanks for letting me know you are home. 3 down, 2 to go. Stephen was the first to get home. Kenneth had an absolutely nightmare of a trip home. He'll tell you about it sometime, but he finally arrived safely. Louise and Stephen are in Terrace Bay and will leave there tomorrow. It will be good to have everyone home again.
Holly,
Thanks for the pictures. I asked for one yesterday and received it and a bonus one in my email today. Not bad for a busy mother of 4--in fact, bloggone good!
I'm still missing everyone. Where have you all gone?
Love, BJ

Hey.

Man, I wish I had known about this blog before the reunion. Last night I went through the 900+ comments to part 3. This thing is blogdingnagian. (Bear with me, I'm new at this).

Well... better late than never.

Kenneth

Welcome to the blog Kenneth!! Heard you didn't have an easy trip home...that is too bad, did you fly all over the country again?

Glad to see the blog alive again and with new people!

Lucy here,

Kenneth ... welcome to the blog! I can hardly believe that you read all of part 3 in one evening. That's bloggluttony!

Thom ... Grandma is just waking up to start another day. I'll let her know about Lorraine's pleasure on receiving her well-prayed-upon rosary.

Bob ... thanks for organizing the reunion photos. We look forward to seeing in whatever format you are able to devise. Some of us may need instructions on how to view them and how to print a select few. Please stand by!

Mary-Ellen ... yesterday's quote brought a smile to Mom's face. Keep sending those good thoughts our way.

Love to all, Louise

Hi again everyone! I'm with aunty BJ.. it's fantastic to see that the blog is still up and running. Has everyone made it through Lindsey's family journal? I keep opening it, reading, smiling, turning the page, crying.. and then stopping... and then starting all over again. It's beautiful to laugh and cry with the journal and to follow our family through so many events.

I feel the same way about not having enough time to chat with everyone individually as Holly and Uncle Bob mentioned. I like the way that you are both looking at it, though.. it was the whole experience of BEING together as a family that meant so much.

Hugs to everyone and especially to grandma.

Cousin Barb

Short story: my weekend trip was 104 hours long, with 48 of them in Regina.

Long story: my Saskatoon->Minneapolis flight was two hours late, so I missed my Austin flight and had to stay overnight in Minneapolis. They rebooked me on a 7am flight through Memphis the next day. And they treat the rebooking as a "ticket booked less than 24h prior to departure" so I got hauled aside for the extra-invasive screening.

Summary:
Austin->Chicago
Chicago->Baltimore
Baltimore->Minneapolis
Minneapolis->Saskatoon
Saskatoon->Regina
Regina->Saskatoon
Saskatoon->Minneapolis
Minneapolis->Memphis
Memphis->Austin

I don't want people to get too excited but I'm about to move on to Chapter 5. I'm trying something out, I think it will work.

My internet service provider has a deal with Yahoo to host a photo album site. You can see Part 1 of the pictures I'm doing at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/10588159@N03/
If you cannot just double click this URL, just copy it and paste it in the address line of your browser. there are a couple of other photo albums of mine at this site but you can just ignore them. OK? These pictures are printable but no more than about 4X6. If you want to go to a larger size, perhaps you ought to ask me for a larger original. You can get me at: rmbarker@rogers.com

More before the end of the day.

Cheers

It would take a month long reunion to really visit with everyone and few of us really have that kind of time. It was great to see everyone (almost) in one place. I'm still amazed we managed to have 40 of the 43 cousins there. Equally amazing that there is 34 years between me (the oldest) and Jessica and Nicholas (the youngest).

b@bigdog said...

Looks like I got home almost as fast as Kenneth even though I had to drive 2,000 kilometres.

BTW, my new album, Twice the Usual, which he delivered to me at the reunion, KICKS BUTT!

It was five years in the making, but it was worth every minute. My brother is an amazing individual. I almost feel guilty about calling it "my album." I wrote the songs, but it's really his album as much as it is mine.

In any event, I'm aiming to have it out before Christmas. This week, I'll start looking for the requisite funding. If anyone knows of any patrons of the arts or people who aren't shy of high-risk investments or just wants to pre-pay for a few dozen copies, let me know.

hey everybody, there is now a "take five" post, talk to you there.

b@bigdog said...

Luce, thanks to you as well for bringing Lorraine's rosary from Scotland.

b@bigdog said...

So, how is this going to work? The problem I had with posting pics was you can't post them in a comment, so each time we post pics it will be a new post/thread/chapter.

Do we continue the blogversation here in Take Four (that would be my suggestion) or are we going to get into a fragmentation game?

Okay, I can't thank everyone enough for a great vacation.

Ed, Deanie, Heather, what a great job putting everything together.

Len, Kelly, Amy, you made me feel right at home, you guys are more than hospitable.

Mike, Lui, David, great golf tourney and prizes, you rock!

Marty, I don't know how you do it.

Grandma, thanks for being you. You brought us all into the world and it was wonderful to see you again.

Everybody else: This note is kind of like the reunion itself. it would take all day to mention all the people and things that made it so memorable, so thanks.

b@bigdog said...

Highlights of the reunion:

The beach, great bash.
The party, wow.
Mass, incredible.
The second party, wow again.
Passing around a football on Taylor Field, dream come true.
Touring 1140 Garnet, inspirational.
Getting together after the party, they just kept coming.
Golf, 'nuff said.
Getting my butt kicked by Len in Texas Hold 'Em, you suck!

b@bigdog said...

Another BTW, Lorraine applied for a job in Regina. Can you Regina folks keep an eye open for journalism opportunities in your fair city? I don't think I'd make a very good tile/terrazzo guy. Ask my brother Stephen, physical labour and I don't see eye-to-eye.

Hey everybody.

I just wanted to let everyone know that "Tricia's Trotters" have already raised $2130.00 for the Leukemia Light the Night walk on September 29th. If all of our team members raise their individual goal, our team will be donating over $5200.00 to the walk!!!!!! Wow!!!! If anyone else would like to join us on the walk (you dont have to raise any funds to participate) go to Tricia's blog where you will find a link.

On that note, I just want to say that our family is so generous and supportive and I am so proud to be an Antonini.
