Thom ... you will be pleased to learn that I scored a 47 on your blog addiction test. I'm a blogianado and I think your desciption fits me well. That Lucy is in real trouble, isn't she? Louise
Well done, only a true blogianado would even take the test.
I scored a 16, believe it or not, I guess I'm just a blurker at heart. Either that or I am a true addict deluding myself into believing I don't have a problem. The first step is admitting you are powerless over the blog and your Internet connection has become unmanageable.
I figure I'm a touch high. This time I'll take into account the amount of time I spend at work added to the amount of time spent sleeping (or trying to), bathroom breaks and meal breaks (seeing as Deanie refuses to let me eat at the computer), that should give me the ratio of time spent on the blog compared to everything else which I think is a much better measure of an addiction.
Thomas, Thanks for another word for the Blexicon. I didn't score as high as Lucy, but I certainly need several Blog fixes a day. And when I'm not on, I'm blurking. You forgot to add: Do you feel disappointed when you go to the blog and there is no new posting since the last time you looked? Mom
Ok, I'm looking for 15 four-letter words as answers to these cryptic clues:
1. It's really easy to break 2. Interrogate, and do it well 3. Viral infection Caught by the elderly 4. The animals walk back 5. Patient; inspect carefully 6. Not the right drink 7. Getting the boyfriend to name the day 8. Crazy when you hit back 9. And translated to English by the Scandinavian 10. This release costs nothing 11. I do get the picture 12. Had been, ourselves, about 13. Rents and allows to take part in 14. Eager to weep and wail 15. Criticize about, and that hurts
You're definitely on the right track, BJ: #2, 13 and 14 are right on and #15 fits as well as my answer POKE. #1, 8 and 10 need to be more closely related to hints given in the clues. Lucy
Here in Scotland, our clocks sprang ahead by one hour during the night. That hasn't kept David from playing an early round of golf on the links. Me??? I think I'll go back to bed and reclaim my lost sleep. Lucy
Thnaks Louise, for the birthday wishes for Zach & Noah. I'm on my way to their place this afternoon to celebrate both birthdays, so I've printed out your greetings and will take them with me. The boys will enjoy your creative messages, and will be pleased you put them on the blog! What a girl!!
Lui & I went to listen to Marty entertain last night. HE IS PHENOMENAL!!! Thanks,Marty, for the great time we had, and thanks, Lui, for taking me. How lucky am I?
Nope ... 6. is PORT which is also the left side of a ship (not the right)
9. is DANE (a mix of AND with the E from English)
I have to say that you did very well. I took these cryptic clues from a crossword puzzle that I was doing in a local paper. I had an unfair advantage in being able to get letter or two from other answers in the puzzle.
We were not able to watch our Canadian women win Gold at the World Curling Championships today but we followed the action through scoring updates. We are celebrating the Manitoba team's victory over China tonight.
Hi Mary Ellen, It's always good to meet you on the blog. I hope today's birthday celebrations were doubly enjoyable for Zach and Noah.
I'm glad you had fun on your evening with Lui, listening to Marty entertain. I'm sure our two brothers figured they were the lucky ones, happy to be in your enthusiastic presence.
The answers are so obvious once you see them. I really goofed on port and can hardly believe I missed Dane! BTW....are we celebrating with a wee dram, by any chance? It is a worthy reason!
A cock-eyed optimist is someone.... who buys a lawn-mower when there is still five feet of snow on the lawn. (incidentally, Bob bought a lawn-mower today). Anyone else know any cock-eyed optimists?
BJ ... a lot depends on what Bob paid for the lawn-mower. It's possible that he got a really good deal on something that no one else in the city of Ottawa could imagine using at this time of year.
Then again, maybe Bob intends to convert the lawn-mower into a snowblower with some fancy attachment. Heck, he's halfway there; he already has the snowshoes to wear while clearing a pathway to his backyard birdfeeder.
A cock-eyed optimist is a person who dreams up a wild excuse for someone else's folly.
You're welcome, Sonia! Have a terrific birthday supper with friends and don't worry about the babysitters. Those two know all the tricks! Carol is bound to do something that will make her charges quickly disappear and Tony will stock up on material for his "leg-pulling" stories. LOL, Louise
Happy Birthday Sonia!! I built you a self-contained, mobile, irrigated, USGA spec putting green and sent it to you FedEx expedited two days ago. They tell me you ghould see it this afternoon. I once asked Alexander and Emily for the no fighting and they actually did it for me! Unfortunately, I forgot to specify duration so it only lasted 7 minutes and 23 seconds. Hope you have a great birthday.
I see that my number sequence did not draw solvers to the blog. Here is what I wrote on March 30:

Here's my story on April 1:
The 4th month of the year has 30 days, 9 of which are family birthdays ... 4, 6, 9, 16, 17, 20, 22, 27 and 30. It's going to be another month of celebrations on the blog!
Lucy...It wasn't for a lack of trying, that's one of the few things that didn't occur to me. I did look at the 4 being April but the 09 threw me off, so April 30 was my first date. I thought of BJ's and Vic's birthdays too, so close. I see now I should have got it...I have to go put a shoe on so I can kick myself.

Wait a minute...let me take that test again....

Whoa!!
I've got work around the house to do.

Happy Birthday, Noah
It's your turn to celebrate!
And we want to send our greetings
On this extra-special date.
We checked and we discovered
That you're TEN years old today.
You are in the "double digits" now,
You're really on your way.
Have a full and happy Sunday
So there's fun in all you do.
Let your birthday celebrations
Score a Perfect 10 for you!
Love and best wishes,
Louise and David

8. NUTS--(STUN)
11. KNOW
12. GONE
#8 is correct, BJ - stunning in fact!
The other two don't quite fit but you have taken us over the half-way mark. That's 8 down and 7 to go.
Lucy
4. PETS (STEP)
#4 is right in step, Kenneth!
Lucy
11. SEES
In summary ... four-letter answers are still needed for clues:
# 5,6,7,9,11 and 12
BJ ... nope
That picture in #11 is important!
Lucy
If numbers lure you to the blog, here's one for you ...

12.WERE
Yes, BJ, we're getting there!
Lucy
11. ICON

You're on a roll with four more to solve.
Lucy
5. CASE
7. DATE
Wow, I can't keep up to you, BJ. Your answers to #5 and 7 are correct. You have only 6 and 9 to go! As Thom might say, "easy peasy".
Lucy
Damn you guys are good!!

6. AWRY
9. BATH
BJ ... your answer to #6 is very clever. Maybe you have to be a bit of a mariner to get the RIGHT answer?
# 9 is not even close. Can you translate And into English and get a Scandinavian?
Lucy
6. GROG?
I like Awry better. Awry for wrong rye for drink.
9. ???????
Nope ... 6. is PORT which is also the left side of a ship (not the right)
9. is DANE (a mix of AND with the E from English)

BJ ... why not? A double might even be in order. Cheers! You really stayed with that quiz and saw it through to the end.
LOL, Lucy
That's one for Canada and one for you!
Thank you.
Love, BJ
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SONIA!
We hope this final day in March is a lion of a birthday for you in every way, (except the weather) - grand, dynamic and lively.
Have fun!
Cheers to you, with lots of love!
Louise and David
Thanks!
My racquetball friends are taking me out for supper (after racquetball of course!) My mom and dad are babysitting..... (insert evil laugh here)
The kids didn't buy the "all i want for birthday is for you guys not to fight". Apparently, I forgot they were boys.
Sonia
A cock-eyed optimist is someone.... who buys a lawn-mower when there is still five feet of snow on the lawn. (incidentally, Bob bought a lawn-mower today).
Anyone else know any cock-eyed optimists?
P.S. .....and there is still five feet of snow on the lawn.
P.P.S.
Six feet, actually. The city snow blower just widened our street by blowing another foot of snow onto the front lawn.
BJ ... a lot depends on what Bob paid for the lawn-mower. It's possible that he got a really good deal on something that no one else in the city of Ottawa could imagine using at this time of year.
