Good morning All,

We missed a lot of you at the party yesterday, but let's stay in touch with an occasional hi, "here's what I'm doing now" or "What's happening in your little corner of the world?"

Love, BJ

Hi. I'm checking the blog while the kids are having lunch. It's a beautiful 25 degree day here in sunny Regina and we are enjoying our last few days of summer vacation before the kids start school on Wednesday (Eddie for a full day, and Mia in the afternoon).

How was that BJ? ; )

Sorry All!!!!!

We've been too into ourselves over the past few months and although we were aware of what was happening, we did not follow through.

No excuses, just a resolution to keep in touch.

Carol has reduced her work week to three days, working from 8AM to 4PM and not taking a lunch. She should have lots of time to work on the yard, but something always seems to reduce available time. Her health is good and she manages us as good as ever.

Sonia and the boys have moved into the house and she is a co-owner with the intention of buying, and throwing, us out one day. The boys missed Carol when we away because she 'stirs things up' and makes their lives interesting. Sonia continues to work for the City of Regina and she can update you with her personal details as she sees fit. The boys are 16 (Justin), 12 (Jacob) and 9 (Jordon) and are into soccer, football, baseball and racquetball. Jordon recently won the Canadian 8 and under racquetball title, making it two years in a row as national champion. Justin and Jacob also qualified for the nationals and both did well but were not in the medals. Sonia continues to play and recently returned from the Nationals in Toronto. She played in Women’s A but was knocked out by a player who the association was unable to convince she belonged in the Open division.

Carol and I are just back from a visit to Toronto to see Cory's house. Although he said he would never be able to own a house in Toronto, he is engaged to be married next summer (August 1) to Amy Roher and they have combined their resources to buy a house. Amy is also a teacher and they found the house in a neighborhood close to their schools. We met Amy’s parents and travelled to Niagara Falls with them and Cory and Amy. We rented an entire bed and breakfast (3 rooms) in Niagara-on-the-Lake and went on a wine tour and enjoyed everyone’s company for two days.

Dustin is an accountant with the Province of Saskatchewan and has recently completed his Batcher of Commerce, and has received his Certified General Accountant designation. He and Kelly have a house about 10 city blocks away from us, and this prompts a lot of interesting discussions between him and his mother. Ditto for Keenan, but he lives only three blocks from us so the discussions are more numerous.

Keenan also works for the Province as an information technology consultant. His girlfriend has moved into his house and shares the costs and also reports to Carol on matters relating to house and yard. We are hoping she will someday be Keenan’s wife and sister-in-law, as she is Kelly’s (Dustin’s wife) sister.

Our baby, Jenalee, turns 22 next month. She is working for the City of Regina, and is still enrolled in classes at the University of Regina. She is still living at home, but travels on weekends with her friends on a regular basis. She plans to travel to New York next August when we go to Toronto for the wedding.

I have not worked since February 29, 2008. In January and February I was the reason for several 9-1-1 calls at the office, and after discussions with my boss and my doctor, I applied for long-term disability benefits in March. My application was approved in July once I had used up my sick leave and accrued vacation credits. My general health has definitely improved since February, but arthritis in all my joints has made many simple things more difficult. My wrist and elbows are the worst, and I have actually stopped for a break three times while typing this comment. I cannot take anti-inflammatory drugs as an ongoing treatment, but my kidney specialist is okay with me taking them for one or two days when the pain is too much. I am happy to report I am not using them at all yet as I am able to deal with the pain. Problems are relative, and I know I am fortunate compared to others.

Love from the whole Antonini (and Banin) household.

Tony

Well done Dad!!!

You and mom were gone for a week?? I didn't even notice!!!

Should I have watered the
flowers???

I just thought I was being forced to fend for myself once again at supper time....hahahaha

Supper almost on the table when I get home from work... I have been extremely spoiled!!! Yes...I love it.

Things are very busy with the boys and football this year! All 3 are playing.... Jacob and Jordon in RMF (amazing program....kudo to Len and Kelly!) and Justin is playing for O'Neill as starting fullback...! All the boys love it...and get this...they are all #37 this year! I won't get that confused at games this year!

Correction on the 2 National Championships for Jordon though...it is actually 3... speaking of racquetball though. The Regina Court and Fitness is now going to be Gold's Gym.... to be renovated and open again in February 2009...

Happy Reunion everyone!!!

Love Sonia

Holly,
Great response. I loved hearing about your family, but can hardly believe that 2 of them will be going to school this year. Well done.

Tony,
Fantastic! A family history primer. Many thanks. Congratulations to all the racquetball players in the family. Wonderful news about Cory & Amy. And I'm glad you & Carol got to Niagara-on-the-Lake--it is such beautiful country.
Good for Carol to have reduced her work week. (I suspect, though, that she is still doing about double what most people do full time). It sounds like Jenalee takes after her with her work ethic. In fact, the whole family are all very accomplished and successful.
Re: your arthritis--I hear you, brother. Mine is in knee and hip and I am holding off on anti-inflammatory or a replacement as long as possible.

Sonia,
I always enjoy your humor so much and you came through with flying colors once again.
Thanks to the whole clan.
Love, BJ

I simply cannot drop in on the blog without putting in a word or two.

Tonight (totally unexpectedly) I am having supper with Deanie, Edward and Heather after spending the afternoon with Christine (also, totally unexpectedly).

Just now Edward has set me up on the computer so that I can review reunion comments. I've had so much fun visiting with all of you in this way. In this moment, I'm asking myself, does life ever get any better than this?

Lots of love,
Lucy

PS: Thom, we'll call you about a Thursday tee time. Is Saturday's gathering still on?

HOW-DAY!

Luce, it just so happens I'm going to be in Regina Thursday (tee-time around 9-10ish would be ideal). And yes, everyone is still welcome Saturday (although the only response I've had so far is from Holly).

Hey Lui,
Happy 60th birthday! There are now 6 of us 14 siblings who are in their 60's. How did that happen????

Every time I see this quote, I think of you & me & Barry Munger.I've put it on here before, but I just had to put it on again.

QUOTE OF THE DAY:
The mildest, drowsiest sister has been known to turn tiger if her sibling is in trouble.
-Clara Ortega

Best wishes Lui!

Happy 60th birthday, Lui

Our greetings are coming to you from Ed and Dean's home computer in Regina.

During our travels, it has not always easy for us to gain access to the Internet but "where there's a will, there's a way".

On this special occasion we definitely had the WILL to wish you a very good birthday and many even better days in the year ahead. As is so often the case, family provided us with a WAY for us to join in on the celebrations!

Cheers, and welcome to the 60's!

Lots of love,
Louise and David

This greeting is one day late for a very special two-year old.

Birthday Greetings, Piper!
We hear that you are 2
We hope the day is happy
For you and Delia, too.

You'll have a celebration,
Two candles on a cake,
The day will be quite special
And all for Piper's sake.

We share today's excitement
With Delia, Mom and Dad;
Because your second birthday
Makes everybody glad!

Love and best wishes to the whole family,
Louise and David

Yes, BJ, we are enjoying the Regina part of our travels. This is a family-packed week with two gatherings still to come.

Tomorrow we are having a drop-in day at Regina Beach. From 1:00 pm on, people are welcome to come by the cabin to visit us and one another. On Saturday, Thom and Lorraine are opening their Echo Lake home to family and friends.

Time is short and swift but the love is constant and lasting.

Love,
Lucy

Ed,
Your original post is so appropriate: "Yesterday is just a memory; tomorrow is never what it's supposed to be."

David, John and I will not be ZOOMing back to Scotland as planned. ZOOM has gone into receivership and all flights have been grounded.

Last night, David scrambled to make new bookings and managed to get us an Airtransat flight out of Calgary to Manchester on Sunday, August 31st. How we get to St. Andrews from there is yet to be decided.

For now, we are going ahead with today's open house at Regina Beach. We intend to enjoy our last day in the Regina area despite the disappointments of having to make an early departure. Lorraine and Thom, the beauty and promise of Echo Lake will call us back to Saskatchewan some day.

I don't know when we'll blog again but we are bound to have lots to tell you when we do.

Much love,
Louise and David

Happy Birthday, Ellie,
You are beautiful at TWO.
On this Saturday in August
We are celebrating YOU!

May your day be bright and cheery,
With no reason to be glum;
Just enjoy your time with Lui,
Mia, Eddie, Dad and Mom.

We're among the many people
Who join in the birthday song,
And we hope that you feel special
At this time and all year long.

Lots of love,
Louise and David
