May 1

Another month has passed us by and we're still going pretty good. I've brought the puzzle over to this thread.

Just for fun who am I looking for:
1. This protective father is handy with both a knife and a gun....Clifton Clowers of Wolverton Mountain
2.She doesn't own a rice paddy but she still picks it up occasionally...Eleanor Rigby, picks up the rice in the church where a wedding has been
3.He roams here and there with a sunny disposition...The...whoa almost let it slip
4.They said he came from the wrong side of town...The Leader of the pack, just what it says
5.She would whirl to the music...hey Marty, help them out

ed said...

Lou also has

3. The wanderer...over on the last thread

Louise and David said...

I keep checking in, Ed, but I can't even make a guess on the girl that would whirl.

LOL, Lucy

BJ said...

Ed,
Is it the Dancing Queen?

BJ said...

Or, Music Box Dancer?

ed said...

No it's neither of those. I'm really surprised Marty doesn't help here.

BJ said...

Calendar Girl?

ed said...

Sorry, it's not Tim Horton's... what?

BJ said...

Edward,
Is the song title a girl's name?

ed said...

No, It's actually the name of a town

BJ said...

Felina from El Paso?

ed said...

Yes, Music would play and Felina would whirl

El Paso...MARTY Robbins (not Tim Hortons, Robins)

Maybe your other coffee shop isn't Robins

BJ said...

We don't have Robins in Ottawa. We have about 15 other coffee shops (Bridgehead, Java Joe's, Timothy's, Second Cup, etc), but no Robins.

And here's a clue for you:
He went to school to learn this trade.

BJ said...

And you might say it became a family trade for some.

BJ said...

Lui should be able to get this one.

Lui said...

BJ, just checked in. I'm in Atlanta GA. Drawing a blank right now but I'll work on it.

BJ said...

Hi Lui,
How long are you in Atlanta? everybody seems to be traveling these days. Louise and David leave for Scotland tomorrow on an ocean voyage.

Lui said...

I'll be here until Friday. I'm at the N.A. Waste Expo to learn about garbage and recycling. One of the companies I am currently the CFO of supplies the cities and other municipalities in Alberta with garbage and recycling vehicles and equipment. It should be an interesting trip.

BJ said...

Lui,
I'm sure it will be interesting. In Ottawa we have have 5 pickups: black box (newspaper, cardboard etc.); blue box (plastics); green bin (organic); yard waste; and garbage (everything else). The blue and black boxes are picked up every other week. The green bin every other week in winter--every week in summer. Yard waste spring, summer, fall and Christmas. Garbage every week. It seems to be working. Most of it is recycled.

ed said...

Flowers on the wall?

Louise and David said...

Gosh, BJ, you remembered that Dave and I are heading to Miami tomorrow for our return trip to the UK. Our ship, Jewel of the Sea, sails from Miami on May 6th. The crossing, which includes 3 stops along the way, will take 13 days. We are looking forward to yet another new adventure in our lives. Cheers!

ed said...

I think Mick Jagger learned accounting at school

BJ said...

Sorry Ed,
Wrong trade. I once lent Marty the original recorded version of this song. And the Lui clue is an important one.

ed said...

The piano man?

BJ said...

No again, Ed.
Marty played the piano; what did Lou do?

ed said...

I'm Counting on You?

That's a guess

BJ said...

Sorry Ed,not correct, but very clever.
Maybe you should look at Brandon as well as Lui.

ed said...

The Auctioneer?

BJ said...

Well done, Ed. That's it!

OK. Try this.

The H.O. staff to Mr. Cooper. Almost no handles.

BJ said...

Edward,
'Every woman has a name', by Alice Cooper

ed said...

Terrific, how did you come up with that?

Mary Ellen said...

ME xoxo

BJ said...

Ed, Did I actually get it correct?

BJ said...

New clue:
In one way this would be an ideal house for us. In another way, it wouldn't suit at all.

ed said...

Sorry, you didn't get it correct but I wondered how you came up with the answer you did.

ed said...

The House that Jack Built- Aretha Franklin

BJ said...

Edward,
I figured H.O. maybe meant home office (or housewives); Mr. Cooper was Alice Cooper; handles was another word for names, and the song was Every woman has a name. What is the answer?
Your answer to my clue is also incorrect. You should look for the singers who are named after a special interest of yours.

ed said...

Well, if I'm reading your clue right, it might be 7 Rooms of Gloom by the 4 Tops. The 7 rooms would be ideal, the gloom wouldn't work at all.

Think anagrams for mine.

ed said...

Oh yeah..., I was leading you to home or head office, but it was a bit of a mislead. Mr. Cooper could also be Mr. Cooper's son. That's the song title, almost no handles is the performer.

BJ said...

Wow, Edward You are really good! Yes, yes, and yes for your answer.

Hi from St. Andrews!
For 13 days we have been off in a different world aboard the Jewel of the Seas. It was one of those experiences of a lifetime, not easily described. Out of touch and in the midst of all our fun we thought of family often.

In fact, you were with us from beginning to end! On May 6th, the day we set sail, we raised birthday toasts to Jordon, Melissa and Stephen.

At the half-way point, on May 12th we saluted Campbell as he celebrated his 24th birthday.

Then, on the 16th, enroute to Belgium, we remembered Holly and Jamie on their 12th wedding anniversary.

Finally, on May 19th as we arrived in England, we celebrated Christine and James's 9th Anniversary.

Belated congratulations and best wishes to each of you today!

Cheers and lots of love,
Louise and David
