We couldn't find a traditional way to celebrate a 44th anniversary. In that regard, you are four years beyond RUBY and one year short of SAPPHIRE.
In modern times, this 44th year is considered the Gourmet Anniversary. We think that is just perfect for the two of you. You know exactly how to please the tastes of family and friends in a most gracious way.
Today, it's your turn. Treat yourselves to a delightful basket of groceries, a wonderful meal and a drink to complement the food. Here in St. Andrews we will pour ourselves a fine, single-malt scotch in your honour. Cheers!

Here in St. Andrews we'll be pouring ourselves a wee dram in your honour. For that matter, even after all this time, we'll make it twice the usual and savour the quiet in us before we say good night. Cheers!
Hi BJ, I couldn't find your first answer for #37 but, in checking, I did notice that you already had #34. Sorry about that. It's tough to keep track of 40 answers flying around in cyberspace.
Sorry, Lucy. I remember now writing an answer for 37, but NOT posting it because I couldn't explain it. I also thought of Colin Firth for #28, but only because of the number of letters, so didn't post it either. Could it be Colin Firth?
Could No. 12 be ROY ROGERS? The Roy Rogers Family Restaurants in the US sell a hamburger called the Gold Rush Chicken Sandwich. It's kind of a big stretch.
The Ballad of Chevy Chase was the story of a battle that was one of the many struggles rising out of the never–ending border quarrels between Scotland and England, of which poets are never tired of singing. Sometimes the Earl of Douglas, the great Scotch border–lord, would make an incursion into Northumberland, and then to revenge the insult Lord Percy would come riding over the Tweed into Scotland. Could the answer to # 28 be CHEVY CHASE?
Today we are celebrating the second anniversary of your third bone-marrow transplant. Congratulations!

We hope you are having a happy Saturday birthday in Regina, Joseph.
June, with signs of summer in the air, is such a nice month for having a birthday. May your day be a perfect combination of sunshine, warmth and celebration with family and friends.
Hi BJ, I'm just back from a visit next door. I took the last three clues of our quiz with me for some help from Margaret, Peggy and Isles. Isles got #9 right away and Margaret did a bit of research to get #28. #12 is still "iffy".
28. is Errol Flynn (Errol is a village in Perthshire and Fly with 2 "norths" makes Flynn.)
9. is Bing Crosby (a bing is a slag heap and Crosby could be like "cross by").
12. Lee Marvin is suggested because he sang, "I was born under a wandrin' star" in Paint Your Wagon.
Lucy, Yes, I think all three answers are correct. 28 is brilliant and I don't think 9 is iffy at all. The musical is about the gold rush and wandrin' star fits perfectly.
This date is not marked on my calendar anymore but because of Dad's birthday and Mom and Dad's anniversary, June 17th is permanently recorded in my heart.
Three years ago you chose to be married on this special summer's day. For all of us, it is a day of light and promise. We wish you plenty of both as you celebrate your third wedding anniversary.
