I was going to start a new thread this morning with a HAPPY CANADA DAY ! eh, but I had to meet my boss at the shop at 7 am. I was running a bit late, my fault, I couldn't find my comb.
Your special day is already well under way in Toronto. It is past 8:00 pm here in St. Andrews and we are only now relaxing with a wee dram in your honour.
We hope this July 4th has been a happy mix of personal birthday fun and shared Independence Day celebrations. Cheers!
We hope this is a day for looking back in awe at a wonderful year of learning, travel and adventure. We're glad that your visits with us in St. Andrews are among those happy and memorable times.
Relish the present moment, too, and enjoy today's birthday celebrations with friends and family.
As for the future. . . may the coming year bring you continuing good health and an even greater abundance of life's enjoyments. Cheers!
Here in St. Andrews the day is already warm, bright and fresh. We hope Mother Nature gifts you with the same kind of comfort and pleasure on your special day.
In any case, enjoy the attentions you are sure to receive from your family and friends today.
We toast you on your birthday, Marie. In doing so, we savor the possibility of a few wonderful days with you and Tricia later this month. Cheers!
Tonight you will be celebrating your marriage with family and friends in Regina. Those of us who cannot be with you for the event are sending our love and best wishes across the miles.
Here in St. Andrews we are sharing your joy by raising a toast to your happiness today and always. Cheers!
The Open Championship here in St. Andrews has kept us pretty busy during this past week. Now we are just a few hours away from crowning the 2010 winner.
Still, we aren't too busy to stop and wish you a happy day. Tonight, when we raise our glasses in honour of the Open Champion we'll be toasting you as well on this, your July 18th birthday.
Congratulations on this July day on which you were married 48 years ago today. Every anniversary is a celebration of your love for one another and of your commitment to the family you raised together.
We salute you in a big way with a wee dram on this special occasion. May the coming year bring each of you good health and both of you much happiness.
OK, I have another quiz. This one is in aid of the 1st St. Andrews Boys Brigade. Our answers must be in by September 1.
The instructions read: "Answers are names of items of clothing by sound or spelling".
1. Rob a person of everything. 2. You put them on, not pack them. 3. Sounds as if one is out of breath. 4. Famous churchman, but I didn't know he danced. 5. One just can't stop getting on to horses. 6. Not much of it - only sunshine wear on the island. 7. GEERDASONU (Anag) 8. Does one wear it on afternoons only? 9. It's almost a good telling off. 10. A cuppie and a waker ups. 11. To be in it one adds in to it. 12. To be this one would be out on the hills and down wind. 13. Potatoes are sometimes cooked in it. 14. Fire Fighters needed to deal with this. 15. Covers everything. 16. Eat part and wear the rest but only wear the lot. 17. TTTOICPEA (Anag) 18. Haul up. 19. They aim to improve peoples performance. 20. A little extra and what sounds like warnings.
I'm not sure what is wanted here, but I'll take a stab at a couple. Let me know if you think I am on the right track. 1. ROBE 13. JACKET 15. OVERCOAT 17. PETTICOAT
Thanks for getting us started BJ. You are off and running. The letters in #7 do include and O but I still think DUNGAREES is supposed to be the answer.
Happy Birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday dear Louise, happy birthday to you.
I was going to try to rhyme but it would be a waste of time
What great birthday gifts you have with the presents of your company (pun intended). I'll be thinking of you all today as I make the drive to Wakaw for the Matlock's 20th annual reunion.
Congratulations on this special day, Marie and Lui!
Dave and I have inside information that there is plenty of land, sea and sky keeping you apart on this 42nd wedding anniversary.
Here in St. Andrews, Marie and Tricia have already joined us and a few of our friends in a toast to you, Lui. All of us were sitting in the upper lounge of the St. Andrews Golf Club after a round on the Old Course. We stopped to wish you as happy and satisfying a day as we are having on this August 3, 2010.
Enjoy your day today, Lou; tomorrow Marie and Tricia will be home with you again. Thanks for sharing, eh? Cheers!
Our Book of Days tells us that a Fifth Anniversary might be celebrated with a gift of wood.
Wood symbolizes hope. Like a growing tree, may your love for one another be as deep as its roots, as strong as its truck and as flexible as its branches.
Congratulations, best wishes and lots of love, Louise and David
We hope your fifteenth birthday is going well in Regina. The odds are that it is a sunny prairie day in August - the perfect beginning to a weekend of fun.
Enjoy the celebrations with your family and friends. We are entering into the fun ourselves with a toast to you on this happy day. Cheers!
