Wow! The first of the month got by me.
We are having a very interesting August. We started out with the Matlock yearly reunion in Wakaw. I usually say we're going up to 'walk a lake,' I'm so funny. This year, an infected ingrown toenail made it damn near impossible. We have also been helping Holly and Jamie play host to Sabine, her daughter Ines, (I don't know how to punctuate that e) and her mom and dad, from Mauberge, in Northern France. Holly and Sabine have been doing alot of translating for us. Eddie's french immersion has proven invaluable. They are staying until the 19th. This week they are doing a quick tour to Calgary and Banff while we look after Lui and Ellie and grandma Gustafson gets to spend time alone with Mia.
The 20 -22 is the brothers reunion, how's that for an exciting month.
Lots of love

Wow, great picture Ed.
Sounds like you are all happy and busy, but be very careful with that toe. A doctor told Kenneth that infections in fingers and toes are very serious and need to be caught early.
Wonderful that you are having a reunion. Lucky guys.
Happy August to all.
I once heard the expression "ankle biters" in reference to little kids, I'd have to refer to mine as "toe kickers".
Eddie "nine toes"
Dear Eddie "nine toes",
Ouch, that sounds painful. Of course as soon as you hurt something, you keep hurting it over and over. Or people keep bumping it or kicking it. Why is that?
Good thing you don't have a dog. Here's what happened to one man with a dog.
The dog, Kiko, apparently sensed an infection festering in his master's right big toe -- and chewed most of it off after the guy passed out in a drunken stupor.
Of course, you would never be in a drunken stupor, so it doesn't matter whether you have a dog or not.
You aren't really down to 9 toes are you?
Shut up, BJ, before you stick your other foot in your mouth.
No, I'm not really down to nine toes, well, nine good ones, but I wonder if I could borrow that guy's dog. The drunken stupor sounds pretty good right about now.
Eddie 'nine toes'
I guess I should clear up any misunderstanding that I may be down to nine toes. I have nine real good ones and one not so, but still there.
Eddie "Big Bad Toe" Antonini
P.S. To steer clear of any other misunderstandings, that is not a typo as in Big Bad Joe (The boss)or Big Bad Moe (The guy who looks after things for the boss)

Yesterday we received an email from Jo MacDougall's daughter, Penny, telling us that her mom died in Regina on Saturday, August 14. She was 92 years old.
Today, with deep affection, we remember Dad's sister, Josephine. Throughout her lifetime, Jo was one of Mom's closest friends and an aunt who always greeted and received each of us as one of her own.
Jo lived her life with independence, determination and vitality. Though she has let go of that life now, her spirit will continue to be present to us in so many happy, encouraging ways.

9. SIX LITTLE MICE
Oops. That was meant for #11.
Good one, Kenneth. Thanks!
Lucy,
As you can tell I am very big into nursery rhymes. I even wrote a bunch of fractured ones for myself a long time ago.
Did we ever get the last 3 answers for our last puzzle? Could #19 be costumes (they aim to improve peoples performance)?
Hi BJ, I didn't know about your nursery rhymes. (We never sang any of those in our ABC song years ago.)
No, we do not have the last three answers in the clothing quiz and the closing date in fast approaching - Sept 1. (Can you believe that? It's September 2010 already.)
I will put COSTUMES down for #19. BTW, Margaret has suggested FLEECE for #1.
Lucy
Yes, fleece is better than stole for number one. We should definitely go with that. We still need #s 10 and 20.
I am going way out on a limb here for #10.
If we anagram some of the letters we could get a NEWSPAPER CAP (A C u PP i E AN d A W ak ER up S) And I always wake up my day with a cup of coffee and the newspaper.
Could #20 be HALTER TOPS. You have both halt! and stop! (anagram of tops) which could be the warnings, and 'er' is the little extra? I don't want to send in an incomplete answer sheet.
