October 1

There you go again. Another 1st of the month almost snuck past me. We are having great weather so work has been extra busy. The guy I work for used to be my doubles racquetball partner, he used to call us Anvil Antonini and Ripples Robinson. I know, I know, he wasn't much of a ripples either. Just another nick name I remembered, no wonder I don't know who the hell I am. Have a great day.

We celebrated yesterday to give thanks for Deanie's side of the family and our Gustafsons. We brought Deanie's dad over from the nursing home and Joan and Dennis joined us with their two sons, their two daughters in law and a grandson. Heather and the Gustafsons were also here. Today the Gustafsons are celebrating thanksgiving with grandma and grandpa. Our grandkids will tell you we aren't their grandma and grandpa, we're Nina and Papa. Nina's from the Nina, nana song Deanie has sung to the little ones. Papa is just another nickname, a very good one. Today Heather is going to join us again and we will also have Deanie's friend Geri over to celebrate all over again. It will be another great day.

Happy Thanksgiving Day

We hope your Friday anniversary is just the beginning of a weekend of celebrations to mark the second year of your marriage.

Our Book of Days suggests "cotton" as a gift - a fabric that is resilient, versatile and durable. May those same qualities be found in the two of you as you begin another year of married life. Cheers!

What's in a word. Deanie and I went for flu shots tonight and we were waiting to leave (you're suppose to wait 15 minutes after the shot before leaving, who knew?)anyway, i was sitting behind this little kid, 4 or 5 I would guess, he was frantically looking for a toy lizard, I picked it up from under his chair and handed to him. When he showed it to his mom he pointed to me and said that "boy" found it. It's been a long time since I've been called a boy, i went out and bought myself a sucker.

Hi Ed,
I just discovered your story this morning and it brought a smile to my face.

David and I are leaving today for a week in Italy. We have booked a hotel in Maniago where we will stay while we explore the surrounding communities. We have also arranged to visit family in the area.

Life is a bit too busy right now but we are taking every minute as it comes.

Thanks for the cheer!

My sister Christine came over the other night and gave me a rock garden. She had read in the Barker Bugle that I liked rocks. I have it on my computer desk with my favorite rock in it. It's a rock I picked up while walking at Wakaw a number of years back. It got me thinking about the Bugle. Here's a little story inspired by the Bugle.
In one of the 2005 editions of the Bugle, Betty Jo directed us to a site on the internet concerning the tying of shoelaces, an engineer named Ian had come up with a tie that would not come undone while walking but that untied as simply as a normal tie. On September 13, 2005, I began keeping track of my daily steps with a pedometer and had been using Ian's lace tie always. December 7th I logged my first millionth step, it was at that time when I thought of dad, I thought of the fun it would be to tell dad I used a tie that had not come undone in a million steps, I imagined him saying "how many?" with his usual tone and grin and me smiling back and saying "one million, eleven thousand four hundred and eighty four." He would have liked that. Whenever I use that tie I think of dad.

Everyday

Lots of love

What a lovely story Ed. And wouldn't Dad have loved it!

Louise and David said...

Ever since you showed me "Ian's lace tie" I have been using it as well, Ed.

Now when I tie my shoes I will also think of Dad - as I already do when I look up at the moon and when I empty the lint screen in my clothes dryer. Nice!
