SEPT.1 2012

Unloading the loader yesterday the chain binder snapped on me and drove my funny bone into the loader bucket, which is about as immovable as any object not bolted in place, my arm went numb from the elbow to the fingertips. I realized the fingertips still had feeling when, my arm, ricocheting along the deck of the trailer, a fingertip picked up a sliver. The good news is I didn't need a tweezer to get it out. The bad news is it was closer in resemblance to a stake. Left quite a gouge, luckily it's not the finger still healing from the last mishap, it's on the other hand actually. Oh, that funny bone business, there's nothing funny about it.

Have a great day

Elbows, fingers, knees and toes,
Ed's mishap with them grows and grows.
We hope he stays well long enough,
to bring us lots more funny stuff!

LOL, Loved. I look forward to the first of every month to see what else you have managed to injure. Of course, I hope you are exaggerating for the sake of literary license, but I sure have a great laugh each time.

Ditto to what BJ wrote, Ed!

I was so pleased to see your First of September posting. Once again, I have to admit that I laughed through the description of yet another painful episode. Very funny!

Quiz results are in from the Falkland Bowling Club's focus on flowers. We scored 27 out of 30.
Here are our incorrect answers followed by the right ones:

9. Kitchen item: BROOM/MARIGOLD (apparently kitchen gloves are sometimes called marigolds)

16. Dressed to kill: JOSEPH'S COAT/HYACINTH (no explanation, maybe hyacinths are poisonous)

29. Dancing in the breeze: ANEMONE-WINDFLOWER/DAFFODIL (any idea why?)

LOL, Lucy

BJ said...

#29. Probably from the last line of the first verse of the poem Daffodils by Wordsworth:
I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and DANCING IN THE BREEZE

#16. Maybe because of the ancient Greek myth: A young man named Hyacinth was killed by a disk thrown during competition by Apollo, the God of Light. The drops of blood of the young man which fell to the ground turned into hyacinth flowers. I think it is a stretch, but can think of no other reason.

As for #9. Who knew the gloves were called marigolds???????

Thanks for the anniversary toast Louise & Dave. What I want to know is where did those 45 years go? They went fast!

Light the Night was a huge success at its new location. The weather could not have been any better, and it was wonderful walking with Tricia and her team. Thanks to all.

Love,
ME xoxoxoxo
