Good morning on October 1. I have to post pretty early to be able to say that to Louise, but I think I've made it. We were given a bit of a scare in Sept. when doctors found a small brain tumor in one of our nephews on Deanie's side of the family. Events went very smoothly and they are satisfied they have it completely removed, the little guy is back at home. He is Shirley's oldest grandchild at 7 years...Joshua Stinson. The news from my own little family is great, the kids are enjoying their new year in school and Beata continues to progress through the stages of growing up. Jamie and Holly are happily busy with their little family and Heather, Deanie and I continue our daily morning walks.
Have a great day

Well, good afternoon, Edward
I was definitely up before you were, checking to see if I could squeeze in a quick note to Mary-Ellen and Bob before you switched over to the month of October. As ever, I had the advantage of a few hours head start and got the last word on the September posting.
News of little Joshua is very good, indeed. We hope he is on the road to a complete recovery.
Your own grandchildren sound well and happy at this time. Please give them and all your family our love.
Louise and Dave
Thanks Ed. I got to see your little granddaughters at Jenalee's shower. Thanks to Sonya who's beautiful home was a great place to celebrate. Everyone had fun. The game with melted chocolate in diapers was very interesting and it turns out my waist measurement is pretty close to Jenalee's at this time. (-:hristine
Happy October everyone. Didn't we just have one of these? Time marches on (or slips away)even faster the older I get.
I'm glad to hear that little Joshua is doing well. Also that your family is well, Loved.
I like the way you sign your name, Christine.
It is very appropriate that you should have the last word of the month, Lucy.
Hi Everyone,
Quote of the Month:
“I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”
― L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables
Me too.
(-:hristine, I laughed at your joke about your waist measurement. I totally get it because of my own waist!
Good news is always welcome Ed. Thanks.
I agree with you BJ. Lucy should have the last word.
Love,
ME xoxo

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, DEANIE AND EDWARD!
Congratulations on 41 years of marriage! We trust that you can look back over them with a real sense of triumph and satisfaction.
A life-long journey is not without its twists and turns, valleys and hills. Together, you have made it all look so easy - by loving one another and by creating a close family unit that is warm and welcoming.
May you continue to enjoy the ride for many more happy years. Cheers!
Lots of love,
Louise and David

October 7, 2013. I won't forget this one for a while. I was working on the third floor of a house with a walkout basement. We had set our saws on the third floor deck off the master bedroom. I was ripping a piece of hardwood when the blade caught a knot and there was a powerful kickback. With the reflexes of a cat, brought on by...well...fear, a twisted out of the way. The board flew against the side of the house and ricocheted right back at me. I side stepped, RIGHT OFF THE DECK! Like lightening my arm flashed out and my fingers gripped stucco wire, it just peeled off like a Mandarin orange peel. My legs and arms were flailing and my boot lodged in the brace of scaffolding. Whew! There I was hanging upside down, but my fall had been halted. That's when my foot slipped out of my boot and my descent continued, I reached out and braced my arms for contact with a plank, my mass and the speed at which I was falling simply crumpled my arms when I hit. Thanks Einstein. My head had stopped the fall and I looked inside for help, a couple of construction guys were passed out on the floor, must have been the blood spatter on the window. There was never any danger of me passing out at the sight of blood, I had grown up with Tony and Lui, I was used to it. I remember my next thought being, "Who in hell would use an old rotten plank like this..." just before it snapped. Down I went, this time my chin caught the next plank. The bat in the head (weird baseball incident in 4Th grade had conditioned my head for a blow). The ball to the nose (weird baseball incident) along with the dresser to the nose ( weird bedroom football incident) and the arm to the nose (weird basketball incident) all in the 1st grade conditioned my nose for blows but my chin hadn't been conditioned so I was a bit dazed as I slid off the plank. I had enough sense to grab hold though and found myself hanging at arms length from another plank, it was newer so I had more faith. Even though my wrists were tiring I hung on, I saw people grasping their cell phones I was hoping Len would be the first responder so we could kinda keep this quiet. I thought Lenny had let me down when after what seemed to be an hour my wrists gave out and I dropped. It wasn't nearly an hour as I found out from You Tube the next day. "Man hangs from plank for 27minutes while his feet are only 6 inches from ground." That's how my anniversary went, who says the excitement is gone after 41 years.
Thanks for wishes.
Have a great day

Well, we now know where the nickname Edweirdo comes from. I hope MOST of this latest account is not true as I laughed all the way through it and wouldn't want to think I was laughing at your pain.
Judging from the latest blockbusters now out,you could be writing movie scripts
Well, Edward, your story has caused a bit of a stir here in St. Andrews. Like us, my friend, Margaret, read it with some amusement. She wanted me to ask you if you've ever heard The Bricklayer's Story. She even found Gerard Hoffnung's tale on the internet and ran off a copy for me.
If you haven't heard this story, you really must google Hoffnung Bricklayer and listen to his original address (1958). I figure you could be publishing some of your own adventures which are just as far-fetched and funny.
Someone has even gone on to turn Hoffnung's story into a song. Maybe you and Marty could become a team?
Anyway, thanks for the fun, laughter and discussion we've had since you posted your latest escapade.
Stay safe, now!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, THERESE!
Your birthday is already well underway on Canada's eastern coast. We're a few hours ahead of you here in St. Andrews but it's still too early for us to pour ourselves a wee dram in your honour. That will come later, for sure.
Anyway, we hope you're having a fantastic Friday celebration as you head into a relaxing weekend.
May your 53rd birthday be one of the best ever for you and may you get to enjoy many happy returns of this October 11th special occasion. Cheers!
Lots of love,
Louise and David

I can assure you all that Ed is safe and in one piece. We saw him last night at Len's induction into the Hall of Fame. It was a very moving and enjoyable event. Thanks for inviting us, Len and congrats again. Thanks for the entertainment, Ed! Happy Birthday Therese. (-:
Thanks for the update, Christine. Aren't you lucky to have been present for the actual induction ceremony?
The latest Barker Bugle also honours Len and his friend, Kelly. I have been sharing the item with visitors and friends here in St. Andrews. That's as close as I'm going to come to sharing the glory. Congratulations, Len!
Once again, stay safe, Ed.
Keep celebrating, Therese. The scotch is in the glass. Cheers!

The answers are in on the British Rivers quiz. We missed 2 out of 25.
8. Sheffield is on the Don (not the Sheaf)
25.Killin is on the Dochart (not the Tay)
I'll keep you posted on other results as they come in.
Lucy
Christine showed me an article on her phone about Bob Barker being honored, too. BJ, could you give us a brief update or email us a link? Sorry but I'm a little technologically challenged. (-:
Go to University of Saskatchewan Education. Then click on Alumni,Donors and Friends. Then Alumni. Then Alumni Wall of Honor. Hope you can find it. I will also have an article about him in the November Bugle.
Sorry about the Rivers. Some places have 2 rivers in them. I guess I picked the wrong ones in those two cases.
Don't apologize BJ. We,re in this for the fun of it.

Well, David and I are taking another trip to Italy. I'll have my NEXUS with me and we may have access to another computer but I don't want to take a chance on missing birthday and anniversary celebrations while we are away.
We will probably use a fine Italian wine to raise toasts to those of you who are marking special occasions between October 25 and November 4.
October 29:
HAPPY 36TH BIRTHDAY, JOSHUA!
November 1:
HAPPY 46TH BIRTHDAY, MICHAEL!
November 2:
HAPPY 12TH ANNIVERSARY, SHANNON AND ANDRY!
November 3:
HAPPY 47TH BIRTHDAY, MICHELE!
On each of these days, we will keep you in mind and will wish you many happy, healthy returns of your particular celebration. Cheers!
Lots of love,
Louise and Dave
Have a great trip. We will miss you on the blog. (-:
Surprise, Surprise!
Thank you for the wishes, Christine. We are already two days into our latest Italian adventure. Tonight, we are in Pordenone with Luigi and Maria where Luigi has let us use his computer to check our email and other important sites. Ed's Edition is always one of our favourites.
Italy is lovely and warm even at this time of year. We'll be out exploring Maniago and other highlights early tomorrow.
We don't know how often we will get online. In the meantime, ciao to all!
Love Louise and Dave
And aloha to all. I leave tomorrow for Hawaii for Sweet Adelines International competition. Therese will be there too, so we will have a mini-reunion. Happy Halloween and here's to November, just around the corner and one month closer to the reunion!
Love, Marcia
