Every once in a while, in the housing industry, people are in a position where they have to move furniture into their new home before it has been completed. That is the case in this particular incident.
It was like a psychic moment. I saw it before it happened. The two massive human beings were carrying an upright piano down a flight of stairs. You've seen the type, their necks start at their ears instead of their jaws, theirs arms stick out sideways because their biceps are too big to hang downward. In this case there were two of them and they seemed to be having very little problem with the piano. Then I saw it, the bottom behemoth missed a step, I saw myself slip in behind him, brace myself, place my hands on his back, I saw him taking the split second I gave him to drop his foot to the floor, and, I might add, I even saw the placement of my own feet so he would not land upon either of them. Once he was steadied I saw his appreciation of this small man who lent a hand in time of need. I saw it all. Too bad it didn't turn out that way.
You know, I'm not a zoologist or biologist, I don't claim to know a lot about organisms and their functions or evolution. What I would like to know is, is there a species on the planet, when falling, will not try to lower their paws, or legs, or whatever type of equipment they have to move on, so as to land upon that equipment so as not to injure themselves? None come to my mind.
So, when I saw this guy shoot his leg upward in an effort to regain his footing on the tread he missed 4 risers ago. My first thought, after, oh, this isn't good, was, when they coined the phrase, "All brawn and no brains", this was the guy they were talking about. What happened next wasn't pretty, when that monolith hit my little 5 foot 9 inch frame he sent me through the drywall and studs like toothpaste through a tube. He and his piano came through as well, along with dumber, who decided to ride the piano down. Lucky for me we didn't make it to the cement wall, our momentum was halted by a furnace, it was a high efficient Lennox Elite Series EL296V Model number UH070XV36B, you're probably wondering how I know so much about it. Easy, my left eye was only a quarter inch from the label.
Sometimes doctors will ask you to rate your pain on "a scale of 1 to 10" 10 being the high end. I can remember a few painful events in my life, my first broken nose I'll give a 2, the second and third time, maybe 3s. Fish hook in the leg an easy 1. Freezing my right ear 0, thawing of same 6. Catching the end of my nose on a stuccoed column, a 5. So as you can see I haven't had a lot of experience with pain, and I would think that a 10 would come just south of the tunnel with the light at the other end, so I'm going to rate the piano resting on the big toe of my right foot an 8 and one half.
I really misread my first psychic experience.
Have a great day

Dear Loved,
I have finally stopped laughing long enough to tell you that you don't need to know anything about zoology or biology, organisms or evolution. Or even furnaces or piano-moving. All you need to do is pick up your pen (or use your keyboard to type) and compose that book I keep telling you to write.
On another note, I use professional piano movers to move my piano, and you would not believe how easily they do it. (Even up and down stairs.) And my piano weighs 660 pounds!
Anyway, I look forward to your book, whenever you finish it.
Love BJ
Hi Ed, be sure to add me to the list of people who want a copy of your book when it's published. You create a very funny picture of a disastrous situation. I don't feel like I should be laughing but I can't help myself.

I believe in Santa Claus... To experience Bob and Mary Ellen's Christmas home is something all of us need to do someday. From the old style Tree and fantastic production of Christmas in every room, right up to the heavenly dinner and of course ME's famous Christmas Pudding. Lui and Marie, Karen and myself were there. AND, if THAT weren't enough...SANTA showed up in the form of Louise and Dave, What a most beautiful Christmas present. Thank you sooooo much to Mary Ellen and Bob.
Love Martin and Karen xo
Wow Marty, thanks. Anyone reading Marty's comments, just remember that they are coming from our very enthusiastic and wonder-filled brother! We all know Marty brings awe and excitement to any event he goes to!
I loved seeing everyone and enjoyed all the laughter (and a few tears ) . We are so lucky to have each other. So thank you Marty, Karen, Lui, Marie, Dave & Louise. Bob says the same.
Love,
ME xoxo
We also all know about the wonder and magic you bring to Christmas, Mary-Ellen. I'm sure that all of us wish we could have been there!
Ditto to everything that's been said so far.
Ah, brings a few tears to the eyes! Dennis and I arrived yesterday to spend Christmas in Victoria. Glorious weather to greet us!! We are expecting a new grandchild in May - Shawn and Tina really surprised us. We're all very excited about it. Lots of love to all and Merry, merry Christmas.
Love, Marcia
That's exciting news Marcia. Congrats to all!
Exciting news indeed. Best wishes for a happy Christmas to all of you.
Wow, we have been away from the blog for a few days and have really enjoyed catching up on the excitement, kudos and news.
Marcia, please tell Shawn and Tina how happy we are for them as they prepare for the arrival of their baby in the spring.
Right now we are settling in at Paul's place in West Kelowna after a terrific trip across BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan and back again. Thanks to all who received us with warmth and love wherever we went. What a family we have in you!
Lots of love,
Louise and David

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BOB!
Though we aren't able to greet you in person today, we can honestly say that you do not look your age. In fact, we checked the family calendar twice to make sure you are turning 73 on this snowy Friday before Christmas 2013. Sure enough! Congratulations!
Here in Kelowna we are recalling our two recent visits with you and Mary Ellen and are celebrating this day with joy. We appreciate the way that both of you always open up your home and hearts to us.
May the coming year bring you good health, happiness and a big return on your generosity and kindness to others. Have a very happy birthday, Bob.
Lots of love and warm wishes,
Louise and David

This Merry Christmas and Happy New Year greeting is being posted from Paul's place in West Kelowna. All the personal cards we intended to send are still packaged in their original boxes. We'll have to make an earlier start next year, before we begin our international travels.
All the best to the best people in our lives! Cheers!

Thanks for the birthday wishes Dave & Louise. I'm in the last year of my sixties……..that happened quickly!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.
Love,
ME xoxoxo
You're welcome, Mary Ellen. Your 71-year-old sister has to agree that the years really have gone by too quickly.
Let's hope that 2014 is another very good year for all of us.
