Heather wanted to try kayaking so I decided to take a few classes with her. Everything went fine, then we decided to do a bit of fitness paddling. This was when things went a little wrong. First class, we went out to slalom a course of buoys. My rudder broke as I rounded the first buoy. Second class I dumped the kayak, ended up in Wascana lake with all the ducks and goose droppings, I have to admit I got a good workout that night. The last two classes were uneventful, but tough, it's hard to keep up to an instructor in a racing kayak while paddling a sea kayak. Upside is, I stayed dry the last two classes and we're done for the year.

ee-oo A dip in Wascana Lake, Ed! Imagine! In the very early days, they actually had little beaches with public swimming! At least they deepened the lake in recent years and you didn't get sucked under by the weeds. Good for you for taking that adventure on!

🛶Your kayak adventures with Heather are amusing to read about but “better you than me”. 📜I’m not going to add kayaking to my bucket list any time soon. 👀Whenever I see a kayak, I wonder how I’d ever get into it 🧎🏻♀️ and, if I did, whether I’d ever get out again🧍♀️. The thought of tipping over into any body of water💦, especially Wascana Lake🦗, takes my breath away. No wonder you’re glad the classes are over for this year🏊🏼♂️. But I right in thinking that you may do more kayaking in the future🔮? Happy paddling🛶.

Ahhhh! Wascana Lake. It has changed so much over the years. It was at the Lake that Bob proposed to me over 53 years ago. I'm sure I would not recognize the exact spot because of all the changes, but I could be close! Just straight north of the Parliament building.
I was never actually on or in the Lake. Sounds like it's better not to! LOL

Well. 2020. What a year. First of all, thank you Louise and David for the Happy Anniversary wishes. I should check the blog more often. Yesterday was quite a day, it was going along well, I had got some work done around the yard and got some overdo blood work done, then , around 5 o'clock Deanie asked me to put a project together for her out in the yard. She had piled up some wood and wanted me to put it together. I prefer drawings but she only had written instructions, you know, A to B, B to C, C to D and so on. I thought maybe a shelf at first, then perhaps a box, or maybe a cupboard. Maybe one of those little libraries, it was kinda big for one of those though, maybe it was a doll house. She had given me a ratty piece of carpet for the floor. No. There was one more piece, she brought it out from the garage, a big piece with a U shape cut out of it. Aha! A dog house. "Is this your way of asking if we can have a dog?" I asked. "No!" She said. "It's where you're sleeping tonight, you forgot our anniversary." "Here's a piece of cheesecloth for your blanket."

😂I’m still laughing at yet another wild tale of woe in which Deanie gets to deliver the punch line🥊. She is such a good sport😇. There’s no doubt in my mind that the two of you will make 49 together👩❤️👨. Enjoy the ride!🎭
Tell Dave it went great. Obviously Deanie hadn't counted on my ingenuity. I had some time so I added a screened in porch to the entrance of the doghouse. Removing part of the roof I stretched 6 mil poly over to create a sun roof, or in this case, a moon roof. I built a channel in one wall to accept a piece of duct work as a chimney and used a little Hibachi as a fireplace. I covered one wall with pages from a calendar of famous destinations from all over the world. I used cushions from the furniture in the house to cover the entire floor. I built a trap door in the other wall as a refrigerator because it was cold enough outside to keep my drinks warm. I set up my I-Pad as a TV for entertainment. Then I walked over to Safeway and grabbed myself some delicious snack food.
When I got back, there was Deanie sitting in the doghouse with cheese and crackers and a bottle of wine, watching "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest".
