The distilling process is basic but complexity of taste enters in right from the start depending on the source of the grain, how it’s dried and even the water that’s added. The choice of cask adds lots of subtle touches as the spirit ages. In fact, it is not even called scotch until after it has aged for three years.๐ข
๐ฅThe spirits take their colour and flavour from their cask. Hints of various, nuts, spices, and herbs all enter into the picture. People who drink scotch like to sample as many single malts (the result of only one distillation from start to finish) as possible until one of them tastes just right. There are hundreds to choose from. They tend to be strong, aromatic and pleasantly sharp. Blends of single-malts are also available. They are carefully done by master blenders who know how to “marry” two or more single malts to provide a new (and usually less expensive) drinking experienc๐.
๐ฅOur GOLD MEDAL was aged for 10 years in a French wine cask. No peat was used to dry the barley used in the process. So there is no “earthy, smokey” flavour to it (caused by burning peat to dry the barley). It is a dark golden colour and we can taste grapes, citrus fruits, almonds and a slight sweetness. We did not have the distillery add water to reduce the alcohol content to the usual 40%. At 61%, our anniversary scotch needs ice or water added to suit the taste of the person drinking a wee dram. A bottle awaits you in Scotland. One way or another, we hope to have you sample it. You can make the adjustments until you’re able to say, “That’s perfect for ME”. ๐

๐งIt’s complicated - literally! The distilling process is basic but complexity of taste enters in right from the start depending on the source of the grain, how it’s dried and even the water that’s added. The choice of cask adds lots of subtle touches as the spirit ages. In fact, it is not even called scotch until after it has aged for three years.๐ข
๐ฅThe spirits take their colour and flavour from their cask. Hints of various, nuts, spices, and herbs all enter into the picture. People who drink scotch like to sample as many single malts (the result of only one distillation from start to finish) as possible until one of them tastes just right. There are hundreds to choose from. They tend to be strong, aromatic and pleasantly sharp. Blends of single-malts are also available. They are carefully done by master blenders who know how to “marry” two or more single malts to provide a new (and usually less expensive) drinking experienc๐.
๐ฅOur GOLD MEDAL was aged for 10 years in a French wine cask. No peat was used to dry the barley used in the process. So there is no “earthy, smokey” flavour to it (caused by burning peat to dry the barley). It is a dark golden colour and we can taste grapes, citrus fruits, almonds and a slight sweetness. We did not have the distillery add water to reduce the alcohol content to the usual 40%. At 61%, our anniversary scotch needs ice or water added to suit the taste of the person drinking a wee dram. A bottle awaits you in Scotland. One way or another, we hope to have you sample it. You can make the adjustments until you’re able to say, “That’s perfect for ME”. ๐
