Sept 1 2021

I don't have much to say, which is a bit surprising after the month just past. Tony had a health resurgence after a great dose of family medicine over the course of a few weeks. Louise , Dave, Marcia, Dennis, Lou, and Marie all made their way to Regina to see Tony. The Sunday meetings had more visitors than usual, we had a normal Sunday visit on August 29 and we see the results the family gatherings had on Tony. Of course there were the normal post reunion blues to get over. Now we look forward to the month of September.

Dear Loved,
I really like your September 1 posting. Even though you didn't say much it was worth a thousand words.
Wish I had been there.

August was indeed a month of reconnection, renewal and reunion. ๐ŸŒŽ We have to say it was one of our best ever returns to Saskatchewan✈️, to family๐Ÿ‘จ‍๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿ‘ง‍๐Ÿ‘ฆ and to an endless store of memories having to do with people, places and activities๐Ÿ”ฎ. Louise and David said...

๐Ÿ™‹‍♀️Hi Christine, this time none of the answers you’ve added are correct.

For starters:
Numbers 14, 21 and 25 are anagrams (use an on-line anagram solver if you need it)
The answers to 3, 9 and 12 are hidden right in the text and the letters are in order
Play with the capital letters in number 10 (anagram them)
Try Roman numerals in solving 26.
15 starts with a color; try a synonym for flagon
16 should be easy for a musician knowing how to indicate soft and quiet
Connect number 8 to a president with the same last name
Think of a foursome from Liverpool for solving number 30

That’s 12 more to work on for now. Good luck.๐ŸŽ
You may get on a roll and solve others as well. LOL✔️

3, 14, 21 and 25 are spot on✔️✔️✔️✔️
Change 30 to one of 4 and spell the answer differently (sounds like Beatle) = beetle (and now you’re able to answer 24, too)✔️
Refine Mrs. Johnson’s name to LADY BIRD in number 8✔️

Louise and David said...

You do seem to be on your own, Christine but you’re moving right along. Numbers 9, 15 and 26 are right. ✔️✔️✔️
๐Ÿ”ดFor number 10 you need to find an anagram for all capital letters TRUANT plus the other three caps in the clue (A and LA ).
๐Ÿ”ดThere’s another anagram with all the capital letters in 13 but you need to add a couple of letters to stand for a non drinker
๐Ÿ”ดCheck horoscope signs for number 5
๐Ÿ”ดFor 11 … think about how a teacher lets you know ‘it’s right”
๐Ÿ”ดin number 20, the word “initially” suggests that you look at the initial letters of words in the clue and combine them with another word for a customer.

You’ve solved 12. Just 20 more to go!๐Ÿค—

Louise and David said...

Great stuff, Christine! That’s 4 out of 5 ✔️✔️✔️✔️
๐Ÿ”ดlook elsewhere for the answer to number 6 - just add a bug to the month itself!
๐Ÿ”ดif you use the Queen’s ER (Elizabeth reigns) can you see the other clues in number 19?
๐Ÿ”ดin number 16 simply add music’s letter for ‘soft and quiet’ to the first word in the clue.
๐Ÿ”ดin number 27, shorten south to S and add a slang word for ear
๐Ÿ”ดin 29, think of another shell-bearing creature (besides the crab) that some people (not I!) enjoy eating.

Thanks for sticking with this. Practice makes perfect when it comes to these tricky (but clever) quizzes.

1. Hearing aid with hair = EARWIG
2. Wind instrument - and French? = HORNET
3. Found the position to a T = LOCUST
4. Naive but crafty = GREENFLY
11. It’s right = TICK (✔️)
12. Comes from Motherwell = MOTH (in the text)
24. Deer thirty = STAG BEETLE (as in the answer to clue 30)
28. Is it a twig? - definitely not - that fooled you = STICK INSECT
29. Edible (sometimes) shell bearer = SNAIL
31. Centre two keys = MIDGE (mid G and E)
32. Lady’s garment not second class = LOUSE (Blouse without the B for second class)

Fun eh? Next month’s topic is Rivers of the World

Christine said...
