Ed,
The Lone Ranger is correct for #1; the Overture was the theme song for the show.
The words "Marriage of Figaro" were featured in the show that the #2 character was in, although the music played was not actually from the Figaro opera. If I told you the music, it would be too easy.

ed said...

#2...Bugs Bunny...Jamie helped me with this, he remembered the Rabbit of Seville, and a bit of researched turned up the wedding cake labelled "The Marriage of Figaro"

You're good.

ed said...

Louise,

In my puzzles the answer is usually the name of a song unless I ask for something else, in the latest:

An example of the laws of physics...suggests the name of the song.
It would feel better if I at least had a room, and it would feel better if I had a compass... could be answers to questions asked in the song.
Riding A Zenith...is in reference to the performer. I would normally type it as riding a zenith, but in this case the caps are a clue.

Give it a try.

Blowin' in the Wind by Bob Dylan, aka Robert Alan Zimmerman

BJ said...

Or maybe: Like a Rollin Stone? Bob Dylan
Help me out here Lui!

Lui said...

Edward, I had tried to solve this one when you first posted it and got nowhere. Marie and I went to Brandon and Dana's for supper and didn't get home until about an hour ago.
Then, my assisstant and I sat down to figure it out. It took about an hour. It is one of your best!!
Robert A Zimmerman was actually driving a 500 cc Triuph Tiger, not a Zenith when he had that near fatal crash, but the latter fits much better, giving us the initials of Bob Dylan's name at birth.
So How does it feel? To be without a home or with no direction home. Of course it would feel better if you had a room and it would feel better if you had a compass.
Like a Rolling Stone is such a Classic and so is your set of clues!
Man you are good!!!

ed said...

Oh, thank goodness you got it. I was worried my clues weren't good enough. Sure enough, the song is Like a Rolling Stone. How does it feel? Yes. Bob Dylan born Robert Allan Zimmerman rides the highest point on the Rolling Stone top 500 at # 1.

I got a million of these.
Doh. Sorry dad.

ed said...

Hey can anyone get this with just 1 clue?

6 6... 245

BJ said...

I suppose Route 66 and 2:45 in the Morning are way too obvious.Did I get Like a Rollin Stone, or did Lui? His answer gives the whole story, which I didn't know, and I did ask for his help.

BJ, your postings are way before mine but they weren't there when I posted. I just saw these this morning. Something happens when there are more than 200 posts. Only 200 showed up and I didn't even realize it.
I was on my laptop last night when we sat down and I brought the blog up and the last post was about Willie Wonka.
When we realized we had the answer I posted it and we went to bed.
I came to check on my desktop this morning to see if Ed had seen my answer and when I brought the blog up there was Willie staring me in the face again as the last entry. I thought 'hey where is my answer'!
Then I noticed at the bottom of the page it said Posts 1-200, Newer, Newest so I clicked in newest and there was another lifetime of entries including Ed's extra clue and of course, your solution.
We had solved it without the extra clues and had missed your solution as well as some other great entries!!
Unbelievable!

BJ said...

Hey Lui,
The same thing happened to me. I wondered where my blog was, too. Did that happen before when we had 200 blogs? I knew right from the beginning that RAZ had to be initials, but it took me a long time to find them. And you guys know so much about the music itself that I always wait for your explanations even after I find the answer. You guys are just so damn good!

BJ said...

By the way, Lui, what's the answer to 66 245?

Lui said...

Now that you mention it BJ, I think you are right. Remember when we got going with such a frenzy a few years ago, there were two or three pages to a stream. the first stream was so big I could eat breakfast while I was waiting for it to load!!! lol

BJ said...

Those were the days! LOL

Lui said...

Not sure about 6 6 ....245 but I think there is a space between the 6's.
Tried to relate it to the telephone MNO MNO ....ABC GHI JKL mixtures of those.
Got to go to work, I'll try again later.

BJ said...

Meet me in St Louis, Louis. Lui is #6 in our family, so Louis Louis could be the 6 6. I don't know about the 245. Maybe it was the number of the trolley in the musical.

Here's another, little harder this time:

Julia Roberts. Thinking about the turf behind Shea. We'll take a Chevy Astro Tuesdays with him and his offspring.

Lui said...

I would think Julia Roberts eyes are brown. The turf is probably green grass and Shea is definately a stadium. An Astro is a van and Tuesdays with Morrie is a novel. His son would be his offspring.

So is it Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison.

I don't know, one thing led to another and voila!!

ed said...

Holy Smokes. It took me longer to make that up than it did for you to get it. Exactly as I figured.

An added cincher was that it was featured in the movie "Sleeping with the Enemy" starring Julia Roberts.

Ok.Ok. Give me some time.

Lui said...

Here's one Ed.

If Blondie forced his way in and allowed Mr Ramirez to be free you would know it was a story created from Ashes (not exactly) and the man who became a title himself.

ed said...

Wow. This one is tough, if you're looking for a film my guess is The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, if you're looking for a song my guess is The Good, the Bad and the Ugly-Hugo Montenegro.

?????

Lui said...

It is a song but your guess is wrong. You have, however, identified the right Blondie and Mr Ramirez is Tuco Benedicto Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez for what it's worth.

A Fist Full of Dollars?

Lui said...

No BJ it isn't.

But a couple of those words in your title start with the same letter as two of the key words in the first part of the clue.

ed said...

I'm reaching Lou

Angel Eyes...Jeff Healey Band

Blondie was also called Angel Eyes in the film...Jeff Healey was adopted in infancy by a firefighter...(Ashes)...he has been inducted into the Terry Fox Hall of Fame (Title)

Lui said...

Maybe my references are a little too deep because I thought you did a great job with that last guess. Unfortunately it is wrong.
However, one of Blondie's other names is in fact part of the song title. Note that Ashes is capitalized and not exact. Also, the title I referred to at the end of the clue was in fact a song title.
With that you may be forced to get the solution and be free of this one.

Hey Lou,
I'm not at all confident with this but I'll guess "Only the Good Die Young"- Billy Joel (The Piano Man)

Lui said...

Sorry Ed, not right.
Who was Blondie anyway? The Good, the Bad or the Ugly? Now you have the first word in the song title.
Good luck, like I said, I made it 'Diabolical', sorry.
Hey BJ, Ed posted so late last night you may be able to get it before he wakes up!

BJ said...

FRIEND OF THE DEVIL by Grateful Dead.

ed said...

Whoa! Betty Jo! How the hell did you come up with that? I was originally thinking of the Grateful Dead because their lead guitarist was Jerry Garcia, although American has a Mexican name like Tuco (Mr.Ramirez)and their main writer was Robert Hunter and 'the Good' was a bounty Hunter. I couldn't find a song that matched the clues and wasn't sure on the 'title'. I was almost sold on the Ashes (not Exactly) because they relocated to the Haight-Ashbury district of san fran. Now that Lou is hinting Diabolical I have to rethink them because they began their career as the Warlocks. I've been stretching so much my hamstrings are sore.

ed said...

No. nothing.

ed said...

I'm going to guess Good Timing by the Beach Boys just to get another clue.

Or...

how about Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by Sir Elton for two clues.

Lui said...

BJ, my last comment was meant to tell you that Blondie was the Good in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and that Good is the first word in the title of the song. My next one will be a little more obvious because now I realize that when you know the answer it seems way too obvious.
In my clue the first part was to identify the song title and Blondie and Ramirez were characters in the show so I mentioned them to lead you to the show in order to get Good as the first word of the song. Free and forced were used to give you the second word of the song as they are the two types of ???.
The second part was meant to give you the writers of the song so I said created from Ashes (not exactly only because the last letter is different than one writer's name). The thing was I thought by telling you the other writer was one who became a song title himself, it would give it to you because he is a very famous song writer and there is a song title that is his name. I am pretty sure you would know the song.
The song writer would automatically give you the name of the group that performed the song.
I thought that if you twigged on any one of the clues that the other ones would fall in place but again, when you know the answer it just seems so obvious and when you don't it may be impossible.
Hopefully that will help to get it!!!!!!!

Lui said...

Whoa, while I was writing my long winded entry you guys posted a bunch and Ed is so close I cannot believe he didn't get it.

ed said...

I thought it was Good Timing because it was real good timing when Blondie stepped in to save Mr. Ramirez's life on more than one occassion in the movie. I knew the Bare Naked Ladies Brian Wilson song. Ok. Good Vibrations...Beach Boys?

Brian Wilson and Tony Asher

Lui said...

Thank goodness, now I can work on an easier one.

Thank goodness? thank goodness?
Son of b..., that was tough. And,
I noticed you posted a clue after my late night posting thinking Betty Jo might get it before i woke up. Who said anything about sleeping. I haven't slept since Monday night. First of all I had to watch the movie half a dozen times to be certain Blondie was the Good. That's a long fricken movie, I'm so sick of popcorn I probably won't eat it for a couple days. When I fell asleep Monday night I was in six gunfights, the good thing about dreams is you know when the other guy is going to draw, I still lost, I was shot 6 times, I had 9 bullet wounds, figure that out. Then, while I was laying on the ground bleeding to death these Seven Spanish Angels show up...but they're praying for the other guy...what's that all about. Son of B...
