February 1

I woke up this first morning of February feeling like I could start an intense exercise program to carve off the extra weight I'm carrying around. Luckily I was able to crawl back into bed until the feeling passed.

Have a great day
Lots of love

Oh that's funny, Edward.

Really though, you don't look like you have any spare pounds to shed. The extra sleep was probably more what you needed than the intense exercise.

I'll be back on the blog tomorrow with an update on groundhog activities in the St. Andrews area.

Let us know what's happening elsewhere in that regard - is it more winter or an early spring?

An elderly man stood at the door with a piece of cake in his hand."My wife is eighty-six today," he said, "and she wants you to have a piece of her birthday cake." The cake was received gratefully, particularly because the man had walked half a mile to deliver it.
An hour later he was back."Is anything the matter?" he was asked.
"Well," he replied sheepishly,"Agatha sent me back to say she's only eighty five."

Louise and David said...

Poor guy. He may be the oldest man to get his wife's age wrong but he is not the first. Your story proves that the consequences of such an error can be "staggering".

Doctor: "That pain in your leg is caused by old age."

Patient: "Don't take me for a fool! The other leg is just as old."

Have a great day

Good reply! The older I get the easier it is for doctors to pinpoint the cause of my aches and pains - AGE.

BTW...I never heard whether or not the groundhog saw his shadow on February 2. Judging from today's weather, I'm guessing that he did!

Happy Anniversary, Louise and Stephen

Our Book of Days suggest that LACE would make a good gift on a thirteenth celebration. It is an intricate fabric with delicate or bold patterns that are mysterious and eye-catching.

May this 13th anniversary day be a lucky one for you. May the coming year be like LACE as the hours, days and months unfold. Cheers!

Congratulations and lots of love,
Louise and David

In the midst of our worst storm of the year, Mr. Groundhog says we will have an early spring.
And, from personal experience, one of my legs is 100 year older than the other.

Louise and David said...

Hi BJ,
it's nice to see you on the blog in the early days following your knee surgery. You haven't lost your sense of humour in dealing with one old knee and another ancient one. I'm guessing that you're smiling through the pain.
Love ya! Lucy

Happy Anniversary, Johanne and Kenneth!

According to our Book of Days, this is your STEEL Anniversary. That's a durable, maleable alloy combining two separate elements and creating a strong union.

Sounds like a good marriage, eh?
Cheers to you on this special day.

Congratulations and lots of love,
Louise and David

Hi Lucy,
Yes, It is good to be back on the blog. And 'smiling through the pain' is also known as 'laughing to keep from crying.' So far so good, although it will be a whle before I am completely back on my feet.

Louise and David said...

Stupendo, BJ!
It is amazing that you can say "so far, so good" so soon after your surgery.

As far as getting completely back on your feet is concerned, that is sure to happen as you continue to take "one step at a time". You go girl!

I'm with you all the way.

Thanks for the anniversary wishes, Louise and David. Our deep freeze broke yesterday and we were able to spend some warm sunny time on our patio, toasting ourselves polysemously.

Louise and David said...

Hi Kenneth,
You're welcome. Texas is really in the news right now. We're glad to hear that the deep freeze has broken. Usually, though, you guys have a lot more luck than the rest of us weatherwise.

BTW...you sent us running to our dictionary to check out whether or not you and Johanne were behaving yourselves out on that patio. Cheers!

It's a family blog. I wouldn't write anything I wouldn't want my mother to read.

Of course, Kenneth! I should have known that; she is one of the most frequent visitors to this site. She's even getting here on one leg these days.

The mystic was back from the desert."Tell us," they said, "what God is like."

But how could he ever tell them what he had experienced in his heart? Can God be put into words?

He finally gave them a formula- so inaccurate, so inadequate- in the hope that some of them might be tempted to experience it for themselves.

They seized upon the formula.
They made it a sacred text.
They imposed it on others as a holy belief.
They went to great pains to spread it in foreign lands. Some even gave their lives for it.

The mystic was sad. It might have been better if he had said nothing.

I woke up this morning to 4 feet of snow and -32 degrees FC. It's not fresh snow, it just never left. Oh yeah, you don't have to point out that Fahrenheit and Celsius aren't the same until -40 degrees...the F isn't for Fahrenheit. No wonder the blog is frozen.

Have a great day

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARGARET!

This time last year you were nursing a broken arm and probably did not feel much like celebrating at all.

What a difference a year can make! You have already made the most of this birthday weekend beginning with Friday evening spent with your parents here in St. Andrews.

Then Saturday morning found you making a trip to Cambo Gardens to enjoy its fields of snowdrops in bloom. And that was followed by a birthday lunch with your family.

Now that your February 27th birthday is finally here, may its fun and excitement match all that has led up to this happy day.

Love and best wishes,
Louise and David

It happens only once in a lifetime that your age is the same as the date of your birth. I don't know why, but the celebration is called a GOLDEN one. Today it is your turn; you are 28 on the 28th.

May this be a special day, happily shared with Keenan, other family members and lots of good friends.
